Chapter Forty-Nine: Another Encounter
Superior Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasure: Purple-Gold Cloud-Chasing Boots.
Superior Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasure: Sky-Piercing Purple Cloud Crown.
Supreme Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasure: Soaring Decapitating Staff.
Superior Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasure: Mysterious Spirit Ring.
Yuan Wujie could not help but marvel at the Jade Emperor’s generosity—so many treasures dispatched so freely.
“Are all these rewards from the Jade Emperor?”
“Yes, the Lady even reforged your water-attribute weapon into inner armor, saying you gifted it to me.”
In a sense, the arrangement by the Holy Mother of Golden Spirit made this Yuan Wujie’s first time gifting something to Little Jade.
“Of course it’s from me. Look at what I’m wearing.”
Yuan Wujie released the unique aura of the Golden Spirit Chainmail on his body, which resonated with Little Jade’s inner armor. This was a special technique of the Holy Mother of Golden Spirit—something Yuan Wujie hadn’t known before. When he saw Little Jade’s inner armor, his mastery of the Dao of Gengjin allowed him to understand the Lady’s intent.
“You should put on the treasures bestowed by the Jade Emperor first!” Little Jade picked up the Cloud-Chasing Boots and fitted them onto Yuan Wujie’s feet. It wasn’t strictly necessary, but she believed that as Yuan Wujie’s woman, doing so showed her trust in her man.
Every item was changed by Little Jade for Yuan Wujie, without using any magic.
Among the treasures granted by the Jade Emperor, the most special was the Mysterious Spirit Ring. Once worn, the flow of mana in the body became swifter, spells could be cast much faster, and the ring contained several cubic meters of storage space.
“Now you truly look like a great general,” Little Jade said, very satisfied with Yuan Wujie’s appearance. Though a trace of devilish energy remained, the initial impression was no longer so intimidating.
Fully equipped, Yuan Wujie could sense the hidden effects brought by the array of magical treasures; no wonder so many immortals adored their treasures.
“My Little Jade is still the most beautiful,” Yuan Wujie teased, gently pinching her cheek. He could not recall exactly when, but Little Jade had seldom accompanied him lately, and yet she was always willing to do anything for him.
Even in the Heavenly Court, servants are needed. The entire residence of the Divine Monkey Grand General had only four heavenly soldiers guarding the gates.
Nine Luminary Star Lord had considered this matter, but Little Jade’s solitary nature meant she required no extra attendants, so only four celestial gatekeepers were assigned.
“In the future, I’ll recruit the servants myself. I won’t let you remain lonely,” Yuan Wujie said, gazing at the vast mansion. With only Little Jade living there, it felt empty. Yuan Wujie was unwilling to always remain in obscurity and could not bear for Little Jade to stay alone. The best solution now was to find some subordinates who could converse well with her.
“I know your ambition soars to the highest heavens. I would never hinder your progress, and you need not worry about me,” Little Jade whispered, nestling in Yuan Wujie’s arms.
Her words, spoken lightly, struck a chord in Yuan Wujie’s heart—he did not wish for her to suffer on his account, only strengthening his resolve.
“By the way, Nezha has made several provocations at our gates. Fortunately, Nine Luminary Star Lord helped, but your reputation in the Heavenly Court isn't very good,” Little Jade frowned, voicing her concerns.
“With Nezha’s status in the Chan Sect, healing his wounds is no great difficulty,” Yuan Wujie mused. Nezha’s intentions were clear to him; as far as Yuan Wujie was concerned, Nezha was nothing more than a minor character.
Even in the Investiture of the Gods, Nezha was merely an arrogant second-generation immortal. Despite later embellishments, his past actions cannot be denied.
“Er-Lang God seems inclined to support Nezha as well. You should be cautious in the Heavenly Court,” Little Jade said, worried.
“It’s nothing. If they come, I’ll kill them one by one. If two, I’ll slay them both,” Yuan Wujie laughed, reassuring Little Jade. On this first day back, he wanted to stay in the mansion and accompany her, not venturing outside.
Little Jade saw the sights of the residence every day, but experiencing them with Yuan Wujie brought a unique flavor. After admiring the scenery together, they explored the surroundings of the mansion. With beauty by his side, everything gained another layer of meaning.
After a day and a particularly meaningful night, Yuan Wujie awoke the next morning full of vigor.
“General!” The gatekeeping heavenly soldiers greeted Yuan Wujie with a salute before continuing their duties.
Yuan Wujie flew directly toward the Southern Heavenly Gate. Before leaving, he placed the pill refined from Water Feather Essence on Little Jade’s bedside.
Little Jade, having cultivated the water path to the Taiyi Loose Immortal realm, would surely benefit from the Water Feather Essence pill.
At this moment, the Southern Heavenly Gate—or rather, for the past few days—had been far from peaceful.
“Nezha, if you have the guts, go cause trouble at the Eight Divisions of Heaven,” the Four Heavenly Kings lamented. They couldn’t chase him away and had no means to deal with him.
“I patrol my domain, you guard yours. We mind our own business,” Nezha said, yet he had not left the Southern Heavenly Gate, ceaselessly patrolling.
“Nezha, if anything happens to you this time, the four of us will have trouble explaining to Taiyi True Person,” one of them warned.
“Hmph! No need for your meddling,” Nezha snapped, circling the gate and occasionally causing the Four Heavenly Kings no small amount of trouble.
Over two hundred years had passed. By Yuan Wujie’s calculations, Sun Wukong should have already been born. He’d instructed King Yu Rong in the mortal realm to keep a close eye on the Demon Bull King, certain that the Bull King harbored secrets.
“Four Heavenly Kings, I need to descend to the mortal realm.”
With his rank, Yuan Wujie could freely pass through the Southern Heavenly Gate, but the previous incident had not been properly explained to the Four Heavenly Kings. He could not simply leave without a word.
“Oh? You dare show your face here?” As Yuan Wujie reached the gate, the first person he saw was not the Four Heavenly Kings, but Nezha, whom he had previously injured.
“Damn monkey, this time I’ll show you my strength!”
Enemies meeting always brought a surge of fury. Nezha, proud as he was, had never suffered such a defeat—a single encounter and he’d been beaten. Naturally, he could not endure it.
Though Yuan Wujie’s appearance had changed greatly, Nezha recognized him instantly.
Brandishing the Flaming Spear, Nezha activated the Three Heads and Six Arms divine technique, attacking Yuan Wujie.
“You dare return?” Yuan Wujie showed no fear. Even at the Celestial Immortal realm, he had bested Nezha; now, as a Taiyi Loose Immortal, he was even stronger.
Nezha’s cultivation was fire-attribute, at the fifth tier of Taiyi Loose Immortal. His earlier defeat, he always blamed on his own carelessness. Now, he unleashed his strongest techniques, convinced he could easily triumph. The Three Heads and Six Arms was a signature Chan Sect technique for body refinement, often helping Nezha suppress immortals of higher realms—this was the source of his confidence.
Now, adorned in magical treasures and exuding greater power than before, Nezha attacked with full force.
“Perfect, a good opportunity to temper myself,” Yuan Wujie said, meeting Nezha’s assault barehanded. His right side delivered attacks not only with immense destructive force but also disturbed Nezha’s soul, stirring his seven emotions and six desires. His left side, while striking, continually shocked Nezha’s three spirits and seven souls.
After several clashes, Nezha began to falter, his vigor fading rapidly.
