Chapter 129: The Elder Taoist in White Robes

“Break!”
With Yuan Wuji’s furious roar, the giant sword formed from magical power was utterly shattered beneath the assault of the Blood Dragon and Golden Dragon. As the sword exploded, the group of old Taoists was blasted away by the lingering shock waves. Elder Li suffered the greatest backlash, for he had been the primary controller of the sword.
The others merely had their magical power thrown into chaos, but Elder Li’s injuries were far more severe. In addition to the instability within his body, his internal organs had evidently suffered considerable damage.
“Pffft!”
Elder Li collapsed to the ground and spat out a large mouthful of dark blood. He had gathered everyone’s magical power moments ago, and now that the giant sword had been destroyed, he had already lost the ability to move as the conduit through which it had been channeled.
“Elder Li, are you all right?”
Several Taoists whose injuries were not too serious hurried to his side and asked cautiously.
“I’ll manage.”
Elder Li’s feeble voice answered them, and his condition was obvious without further examination.
“Elder Li, hold on a little longer. After all this time, the higher-ranking elders must be arriving soon. Take this pill first.”
A pale yellow pill appeared before Elder Li. With the others’ assistance, it was successfully placed in his mouth and swallowed, improving his complexion considerably.
“I say, you Wudang people aren’t frightened by the display I just made, are you? Why haven’t any of you come yet?”
Yuan Wuji spoke mockingly.
“You…”
The group was furious but dared not say anything. They believed their strongest technique had already been defeated by Yuan Wuji, and now they could only place their hopes in the higher-ranking elders. Faced with his contempt, they could do nothing but endure it.
“Let this old man see what kind of demon dares to cause trouble on my Wudang Mountain.”
As they swallowed their humiliation, an aged yet righteous voice rang in their ears. The resentment in their eyes was swiftly replaced by excitement.
“Wonderful! Elder Wu is here!”
“Elder Wu has arrived. Let’s see whether that demon king still dares to act so arrogantly!”
The group gazed excitedly at the approaching old Taoist in white robes. Yuan Wuji also turned toward the source of the voice.
“Are you the demon king who came to cause trouble on my Wudang Mountain?”
“Wrong. I did not come to cause trouble. I came to seek justice.”
“Justice?”
The old Taoist in white was momentarily taken aback by Yuan Wuji’s words, but he quickly continued:
“Many demons have come to my Wudang Mountain seeking justice. Unfortunately, quite a few of them have died beneath this old man’s sword.”
The old Taoist drew the sword from his waist. It was indeed stained with the blood of many demon kings. Yuan Wuji sensed more than resentment from the weapon—he also detected the demonic aura left behind by all the slaughter.
“Oh? Then let me see the methods of Wudang Mountain.”

Since the old Taoist had shown no courtesy, Yuan Wuji naturally had no reason to be polite. He slowly drew the Punishment Blade and raised it against the sword of the white-robed Taoist.
The white-robed Taoist had at least reached the perfection of one cultivation path, and the sword in his hand was a top-grade acquired spiritual treasure. He was therefore worthy of Yuan Wuji’s drawing the Punishment Blade.
“Hm?”
The white-robed Taoist was startled by the aura emanating from the blade in Yuan Wuji’s hand. Though he did not possess an innate spiritual treasure, that did not mean he had never seen one.
“An innate spiritual treasure?”
“You have some insight. Dying beneath my Punishment Blade will not be an injustice to you.”
“What an excellent innate spiritual treasure. This old man has yet to possess even one. Since you have delivered it to my door, I shall not stand on ceremony.”
“That depends on whether you have the ability to take it.”
Yuan Wuji gripped the Punishment Blade and immediately unleashed its divine technique, Mountain-Splitting and Stone-Breaking. Countless blades of light streaked through the air toward the white-robed Taoist.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The white-robed Taoist had not expected Yuan Wuji to attack without warning. He hurriedly raised his sword to block, but were the blades of light truly so easy to withstand?
After blocking only a few strikes, the white-robed Taoist realized something was wrong. Each blade of light carried no less power than the full-force attack of a Great Unity Loose Immortal. By the time he had blocked the seventh, his arm was already beginning to give way.
“Violet Firmament Sword Aura!”
Violet light blazed from the sword in the white-robed Taoist’s hand as he answered Yuan Wuji’s blades with sword aura of his own.
Boom! Boom!
“This is not right.”
As the sword aura clashed with the blades of light, the white-robed Taoist sensed that something was amiss.
His suspicion was quickly confirmed. The sword aura did not perish together with the blades of light. Instead, it was destroyed beneath them, and the remaining blades once again bore down upon him.
“As expected of an innate spiritual treasure.”
The astonishment in the white-robed Taoist’s eyes gradually turned into greed. The power of the innate spiritual treasure had exceeded his expectations. In his view, Yuan Wuji’s cultivation was inferior to his own, yet the blades of light Yuan Wuji released were stronger than his sword aura. The advantage clearly came from the innate spiritual treasure, and thus his covetous gaze toward the Punishment Blade became entirely undisguised.
“You want it that badly? I’m only afraid you won’t live long enough to take it.”
“Hmph. I shall let you see this old man’s true abilities.”
“Thunderous Violet Firmament Sword Aura!”

Sword aura infused with the might of thunder appeared upon the white-robed Taoist’s blade. It was countless times more powerful than before. With a single sweep, the white-robed Taoist shattered all the blades of light.
“Take another sword from this old man!”
The violet radiance in the white-robed Taoist’s hand did not diminish. Carrying the might of thunder, it surged toward Yuan Wuji. From its momentum, it was clear that he intended to defeat Yuan Wuji in a single strike.
“Subdue the Dragon and Tame the Tiger!”
Yuan Wuji unleashed the divine technique Subdue the Dragon and Tame the Tiger with all his strength. Its power was far greater than the dragon might he had used against Elder Li and the others earlier.
The figures of a Blood Dragon and Blood Tiger, along with a Golden Dragon and Golden Tiger, appeared on either side of Yuan Wuji. The Punishment Blade in his hand transformed into two colors—gold and blood. Dragons and tigers coiled around the blade. In addition to its former sharpness, it now carried an aura of righteousness mixed with the energy of blood, while an eerie quality seeped through the interwoven gold and crimson hues.
Huh?
The white-robed Taoist sensed a trace of danger from Yuan Wuji, but he had no intention of stopping. He thrust his sword directly at him.
“You old bastard!”
Yuan Wuji cursed and swung the Punishment Blade in his hand.
Roar! Roar!
The might of dragons and tigers was terrifying beyond words. In an instant, it crushed the thunderous power of the white-robed Taoist, and the Punishment Blade struck viciously toward his head.
The thunderous force shattered, the white-robed Taoist hurriedly raised his sword above him to block. But stripped of the might of thunder, how could his sword withstand the Punishment Blade imbued with the power of dragons and tigers?
Moreover, the Punishment Blade was inherently superior in rank to the white-robed Taoist’s sword.
Bang!
The white-robed Taoist retreated wildly. Only the hilt remained in his hand; the blade itself had vanished. Several drops of blood stained the hilt and trickled down his arm.
“You old bastard, consider yourself lucky to be alive.”
Yuan Wuji had intended to finish the white-robed Taoist with a single stroke, but he had not expected the man’s cultivation to be so formidable that he could seize the opportunity to escape.
The white-robed Taoist’s true reliance was his mutated Wood affinity—wind. By relying on his speed, he had managed to escape from Yuan Wuji.
