Blessings upon those who walk against the tide!

There was an earthquake just a few days ago, and now tonight it strikes again. Sichuan, you must hold on. As a struggling writer, and once a soldier, I can no longer rush to the front lines. This is something I deeply regret. Having served in the military, perhaps my first thoughts differ from those of others. While everyone is praying for Sichuan’s safety, it seems easy to forget those who run toward danger—their backs to safety, heading into disaster. The most admirable people in the world, they too need to make it home safe. They need our blessings as well.

There isn’t much a humble soldier like me can do, but on my own behalf, as I pray for Sichuan, I also offer my prayers for all my comrades at the front lines. May you fulfill your duties smoothly, return home safe and sound, and spare your wives, children, fathers, and mothers from worry.
