"You..."

Though Zhang Shen was somewhat in a daze, his conscious mind was still relatively clear. Seeing the three girls standing right in front of him, he couldn't help but try to say something. Soon, however, his intended words were about to be reduced to silent compliance.

First, the three young women supported Zhang Shen, and then they shoved him into the car. Thanks to the spacious back seat of the Buick, their combined strength actually fell short of Huang Wanting's alone. They had originally intended for Zhang Shen to sit on the rear cushions, but before they knew it, Zhang Shen pitched forward headfirst right onto the car's carpet.

After all this exertion, Wang Ying and the others were drenched in sweat. Jiang Muyun wiped the perspiration from her forehead with her hand and muttered, "I never expected this guy to be so heavy."

Fortunately, Zhang Shen was at least inside the vehicle, but the seating arrangement for the three girls now presented a major problem right before their eyes.

Wang Ying, standing off to the side, naturally sensed the awkwardness of the situation. Yet, upon second thought, none of this would have happened if not for her own affairs. Still, she felt quite grateful that Zhang Shen was lying face down on the carpet; otherwise, she had no idea whether the unconscious Zhang Shen might do something that would leave her completely at a loss.

Promptly, Wang Ying broke the awkward stalemate with decisive action.

First, she placed one foot onto the back seat, then executed a split to straddle the cushions, before finally lying down across the rear seating area.

In this manner, the two of them looked rather like they were sharing upper and lower bunks, though this scene left both Jiang Muyun and Mu Qiao with an indescribable feeling. Still, they said nothing more; after all, Jiang Muyun knew she would never have done such a thing herself.

The Buick sped along the road and quickly arrived at the campus.

"We're here!"

To Wang Ying, no words had ever sounded sweeter than Mu Qiao's announcement.

Yet, as Jiang Muyun glanced at Zhang Shen in the back, a fresh headache arose: just how on earth were they going to get this guy back to his dorm room?

"Do you guys have any good ideas for getting this fellow out of my car?"

As soon as Jiang Muyun finished speaking, Wang Ying pulled out her phone, rapidly dialed a string of numbers, and whispered into the receiver, "Come out here quickly!"

Wang Ying hung up the phone almost immediately. Jiang Muyun and Mu Qiao had no idea who Wang Ying had just called, so Jiang Muyun couldn't help asking out of curiosity, "Sister Ying, what are you..."

Jiang Muyun only got halfway through her sentence before trailing off, her voice caught in her throat as she spotted a familiar figure.

After exchanging a few brief words with the security guard at the gate, the person easily exited the campus and walked straight up to the Buick.

"Xiaoying!"

That was the first word Mengran uttered upon seeing Wang Ying. To Mengran, Wang Ying was his entire world, so Jiang Muyun, Mu Qiao, and even Zhang Shen were completely blotted out from his awareness.

"Hey! Are we invisible to you?"

Before Wang Ying could reply, Jiang Muyun said to Mengran, her tone tinged with annoyed frustration. She hadn't wanted to give this guy Zhang Shen a ride back in the first place, and had only agreed out of consideration for Wang Ying. But now, Mengran was completely ignoring her, which left her rather displeased.

Mengran, however, remained entirely oblivious to this issue and continued trailing eagerly behind Wang Ying.

"Didn't you say you were going to look for Zhang Shen? Where is he?"

In response to Mengran's inquiry, Wang Ying glanced toward Zhang Shen inside the car and said, "He's lying inside!"

Hearing this, Mengran didn't pay much attention at first, but when he followed Wang Ying's gaze into the interior of the car, a startled curse escaped his lips.

"What on earth is going on here, Xiaoying?"

In his wildest dreams, Mengran would never have expected to find Zhang Shen sprawled out on the carpet of the back seat. As Mengran stood there in shock, Jiang Muyun chimed in.

"Since you can see for yourself, why don't you hurry up and get your roommate back to his dorm?"

Actually, a hint of dissatisfaction was already bleeding through Jiang Muyun's tone. Yet, compared to the frail girls, Mengran was practically a towering pillar of strength, so Jiang Muyun chose to hold her temper in check for the moment.

Although Mengran understood what Jiang Muyun meant, he hesitated to act simply because Wang Ying hadn't given the word yet.

"Mengran, give me a hand and get Zhang Shen out of here!"

At that very moment, Wang Ying turned her head and instructed Mengran.

Hearing this, Mengran instantly looked as though he had been injected with adrenaline, his entire body brimming with energy. He stepped forward and pulled open the car door. Without a second thought about handling Zhang Shen, Mengran hoisted him out and heaved him directly onto his shoulder.

In Mengran's view, heavy labor like this was something he could handle single-handedly.

Seeing that Mengran had finally hauled this "nuisance" of a Zhang Shen out of the car, Jiang Muyun let out a long sigh of relief and said to Wang Ying, "Sister Ying, we'll be heading off then!"

"Okay!" Wang Ying replied. Shortly after, Mu Qiao drove the car away from the school gates.

As they passed the security checkpoint, the guard had originally intended to ask the routine questions, but upon seeing that the burden on Mengran's shoulder was none other than Zhang Shen, he swallowed the words back down and kept his mouth shut.

In truth, both Mengran and Wang Ying felt more than a little curiosity. Just recently, the school had instituted strict new rules: not only did students have to return by a certain time at night, but they also needed to present their student ID cards to gain entry. Yet this time, they hadn't been questioned by the security guards at all, which struck them both as rather odd.

After all, the excuse Mengran had given when he first came out was merely, "I'm going out to see someone, I'll be right back!"

Naturally, the two of them had no way of knowing why the guards had suddenly become so lenient. To the security staff, however, Zhang Shen had attained a status nearly on par with the school principal—especially after they had witnessed Chen Rong leaving the campus with Zhang Shen earlier that day and boarding a luxury commercial vehicle together.

Furthermore, upon returning to the school, Chen Rong had specifically asked whether Zhang Shen was back yet. Upon learning that he had not, Chen Rong instructed the guards that when Zhang Shen did return, they were not to give him any trouble and were to let him straight through without question.

Since Mengran and Wang Ying were entering alongside Zhang Shen, the guards naturally raised no objections.

Meanwhile, Zhang Shen was still being carried across Mengran's shoulder like a dead weight.
