Volume Three: The Dao of the Ten Directions, Chapter 0095: A Fight to the Death
Looking at Ying Xiong’s crazed face, Qin Yang shook his head and suddenly recalled an old saying: if you do not court death, you will not die. It seemed made for the man before him.
He actually thought that reaching the Profound Realm meant he could stride over the world at will?
Qin Yang could only say that this fellow’s horizons were far too narrow. In the future, he himself was going to slay immortals and prove his path.
Vision determined ambition. Strength determined achievement.
Ying Xiong had spent his entire life in the mortal world; the farthest place he had ever reached was likely only this Blaze Mountain Range, and he had never dared to set foot in the Ancient Martial World.
There were far too many mighty figures in the Ancient Martial World. When one was weak, one did not even dare to think about entering it. And now that he had grown strong, he still did not dare to rush in recklessly.
For within that world existed beings even more terrifying than him. A personality like his would only die faster there.
Seeing Qin Yang, he felt it was an opportunity. With a ferocious grin, he swept his arms, and countless vines fused together, forming a long spear.
Then he thrust it out with violent force.
That strike carried the Dao intent of withered wood, the path he had comprehended. Withered wood in spring was meant to symbolize renewal, but in all his life he had only grasped the withering aspect, and never once found the secret of revival.
Facing that spear, Qin Yang did not dare be careless. The withered wood Dao intent could seize a person’s life force, and it was truly fearsome.
Eight Dao intents revolved around his body, forming a barrier. Gripping the Starfall Saber, he let out a cold snort.
If it was a direct clash, then so be it. Who was afraid of whom?
Destroy!
The third form of the Thunder Saber Classic erupted, and his body trembled violently. His expression changed drastically as a dull pain spread through his meridians.
He had overestimated his own physique. Clenching his teeth, he swung down with all his might.
A terrifying power swept across the entire land, and the black sky above suddenly blazed with brilliant light.
Leng Qianyou watched the battle from afar, her eyes filled with worry. Yet she knew that in this fight, this man would never allow her to interfere, even if she could kill Ying Xiong.
This was a duel between men.
So she never once asked whether he needed her help.
At that moment, she understood exactly where Qin Yang stood in her heart.
Somewhere without her realizing it, he had already been carved deeply into her memory and taken root in her soul.
She sat upon a rock. A breeze drifted by, sending her long dress fluttering.
Thinking of the time they had spent together, a faint smile appeared on her face.
With that smile, even a hundred flowers would lose their color.
Already breathtakingly beautiful to begin with, this smile only made her all the more radiant.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions thundered through the air. Qin Yang crawled out of a huge crater.
“Spit. I really did not expect an old fossil like you to have so much strength,” Qin Yang said, looking at Ying Xiong, who now appeared utterly disheveled. Gone was the earlier air of an immortal sage; his hair was in disarray, and blood stained his robes.
Both of them were in terrible shape. Killing intent swirled between them. A high-level Profound Realm cultivator was indeed formidable. At this point, Qin Yang could only seize the right moment and use his trump card; otherwise, he simply would not be able to kill that old bastard.
He coughed, and blood spilled from his mouth, flowing down his arm and into the Starfall Saber.
His face was pale, yet even more prominent was the savage fighting spirit in his eyes.
Thunder, slaughter, and tempest fused into one, while the five elements merged as well, forming four terrifying Dao intents.
Thunder ruled offense.
Slaughter amplified power.
Tempest increased speed.
The five elements provided defense.
Under the present circumstances, he could only gamble with everything he had.
A gleam flashed in his eyes, and Qin Yang could not help but laugh. Fortunately, he had thrown that group of men into Netherworld Valley, otherwise if they saw how miserable he looked now, it would be a disgrace beyond measure.
He swallowed two pills to restore his true energy. His understanding of martial arts deepened as the battle went on. His eyes flickered, and then he surged forward once more.
A razor-sharp blade glow devoured the trees all around him, reducing them to powder.
The fourth form of the Thunder Saber Classic: All Things Fall Silent.
This strike carried an overwhelming aura of destruction, as if it meant to annihilate heaven and earth.
Heavy black clouds gathered overhead, refusing to disperse. The world before them seemed to shrink until only the two of them remained.
Ying Xiong’s expression grew grave. He knew he had underestimated his opponent and dared not be the least bit careless. Countless vines wrapped around him, and with the long spear in hand, he prepared to seize an opening and deliver a fatal blow.
“Think this can stop me?”
Qin Yang’s eyes turned instantly sharp. Murderous intent surged from them as he rose like a storm, gripping the saber with both hands. Endless streams of true energy flooded madly into the Starfall Saber.
The blade turned fully jet-black, completely shrouded in terrifying thunder.
Behind him stretched an infinite sea of lightning. He roared, and the thunder sea suddenly surged into monstrous waves, a furious spectacle to behold.
Seeing this scene, Ying Xiong’s face changed drastically. He thrust his spear without the slightest hesitation.
All Things Fall Silent!
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
At last the strike flew free. The air around them trembled, and a massive fireball appeared in the sky, instantly igniting the vines.
Every inch of Qin Yang’s bones screamed with pain, and his face was twisted in agony.
That terrifying blade glow consumed everything, blanketing all things. In the darkness of night, only a giant saber wrapped in thunder could be seen gliding slowly through the air.
Seeing this from the mountain peak, Leng Qianyou sprang to her feet. She knew this was Qin Yang’s technique, and her worry deepened. Such a terrifying move would surely inflict heavy damage on him.
Please, let nothing happen to him, she prayed silently.
Another earthshaking collision rang out, and a massive crater opened in the ground. Qin Yang was covered in blood, beads of sweat the size of beans pouring down his face. Enduring the searing pain in his body, he attacked again, because Ying Xiong was still alive.
Ying Xiong stared at his severed arm and let out a shriek of fury. Like a madman, he charged outward and roared, “Little beast, even if I die, I will drag you down with me!”
The vines gathered once more and thrust forth in an instant.
A Thousand-Leaf Saber Formation.
Seven silver fox blades suddenly appeared around Ying Xiong, sealing him in.
Qin Yang drove the formation hard, and the blades whirred like a meat grinder, tearing toward Ying Xiong.
At the same time, Ying Xiong’s spear suddenly struck out and pierced straight through Qin Yang’s body.
Ying Xiong’s own body was shredded to pieces. In his final moments, a look of unrestrained satisfaction spread across his face.
The withered wood Dao intent devours life force. Once eroded by it, death is inevitable; the only difference is whether it comes sooner or later.
With Ying Xiong’s death, the world once more fell into silence.
A dead stillness. Not the slightest sound remained.
Qin Yang wore a wry smile. He had never imagined that the path of a martial artist would be so perilous. Perhaps it would be better to go home, marry a wife, and have children.
Using the five elements Dao intent, he sealed the withered wood intent within his body.
After all, the withered wood Dao intent was also one branch of the wood element. If he studied it carefully, his wood Dao intent might advance even further. And if that happened, perhaps even comprehending the Dao of yin and yang by taking advantage of the moment would not be impossible.
Looking at the figure drifting in the air, he smiled faintly.
Before, he had never noticed it, but Leng Qianyou was actually quite beautiful. Not only was she tall and graceful, her figure was also strikingly full, and holding her would surely feel wonderful.
Leng Qianyou was tense with concern and had no idea what Qin Yang was thinking. If she knew, she would probably turn and leave at once.
“How are you?” she asked.
Qin Yang shook his head and said with a bitter smile, “My meridians are damaged. I’m afraid you’ll have to be my personal bodyguard again.”
