Volume Three: The Meaning of the Ten Directions, Chapter 84: Mission Accomplished
Inside the cavern, Qin Yang’s face was extremely grim. Although he had now comprehended the essence of the Dao, and spiritual energy poured endlessly into his body, such expenditure was far too immense.
It left his mind and spirit exhausted.
The fragrance of elixir grew ever thicker around him, and the light in his eyes grew ever brighter. He could clearly sense the shockwaves of the battle outside, and this only made him more anxious.
To refine the pill, he had no choice but to force down the restlessness in his heart.
His hands gently drew together, and the two coiling fire dragons that had been circling separately abruptly merged into one. The earth fire surged upward by a foot at once, and the temperature climbed higher and higher.
Form the pill!
With his low cry, this was the final step in refinement: condensing it into a true pill.
At that very moment, a thunderous crash came from outside. Through a mysterious inner sense, he knew the protective barrier had shattered, but there was simply no way for him to leave now.
A savage light flashed in his eyes, and he immediately sped up.
Under his control, the fire dragon grew larger and faster and faster.
Spiritual energy from all around was devoured by the spirit flame in a whale-like frenzy, and it showed a look of delight.
It was done!
A clear crack sounded from within the pill furnace, and countless streams of spiritual energy poured into it. An extraordinary fragrance spread through the air.
Then, just then, someone suddenly rushed in from outside and reached straight for the furnace.
"The Enlightenment Pill is mine."
"Get the hell out of here!" Qin Yang did not even clearly see who it was. He unleashed his full strength and struck out with a punch.
What a joke. He had labored for half a month before finally refining it; and now someone wanted to snatch it away? What sort of thing was that?
Boom!
Zhang Kuang and the others were filled with frustration. They had not expected that, at the very last moment, the other side would still break in.
Then a muffled explosion rang out; those who went in came out even faster.
Everyone was stunned at once. This was Yu Chen, a man of formidable strength, and yet he had actually been blasted out with a single punch.
Was this real?
Looking at the light outside, though it was a little blinding, then at the familiar faces before him, Qin Yang smiled. "Fortunately, I did not fail you."
The moment those words fell, everyone finally let out a long breath.
Damn it, as long as it succeeded, everything before that had been worth it.
Zhang Kuang was covered in blood, and a cut had been torn open along his arm. He immediately teased, "Zhang Kuang, at least you’re the leader among the Four Heroes. How did you end up beaten so miserably?"
Hearing this, Zhang Kuang was instantly unhappy. Damn it, I got injured because I was protecting you. Fine if you didn’t come over to comfort me, but now you’re standing there saying sarcastic things and adding insult to injury. What kind of behavior is that?
This is just too much to swallow!
"Ha! Qin Yang, don’t forget that you’re still unmatched beneath the Profound Understanding Realm!"
"Let us see your strength, then. I’m exhausted from fighting and don’t feel like taking action anymore."
Qin Yang rubbed his nose and chuckled. "Fine, then I’ll handle the rest. I’ll also let you see what true unmatched strength beneath the Profound Understanding Realm looks like."
The Falling Star Blade appeared in his hand. Looking at the hounds of the Yu family, his speed shot up. In his grip, the blade seemed to weigh nothing at all, and with successive slashes, none of the people before him had any room to resist. They were all annihilated.
"Too weak. Not even close to the Twelve Heavenly Kings."
I’m damned. Has he turned on cheats or something?
Zhang Kuang immediately leapt out. Against two or three enemies at once, he would already find it very difficult; even if he wanted to kill them, he would have to pay a heavy price. And now?
This guy used only one blade strike and wiped them out completely.
Suddenly he recalled that slash from earlier. For some reason, there had been no discernible trace to it at all, making it impossible for him to follow.
What the hell was that?
And what kind of blade technique was that? Why could he not make out its principles at all?
That strike had fused thunderous will, gale-force will, slaughtering will, and fire will into a single terrifying force of destruction and speed. Naturally, the naked eye could not catch it.
Truly damned and ghostly.
Seeing all the elite forces of his family that he had brought with him slain by Qin Yang, Yu Chen’s heart was filled with boundless hatred.
"Qin Yang, you’re courting death."
"The Four Heroes? Heh, nothing much."
When Zhang Kuang and Leng Qianyou heard this, they exchanged glances. Damn it, you were talking about Yu Chen, so why drag us into it too?
Seeing the looks in their eyes, Qin Yang rubbed his nose. "Ahem, sorry, wrong words, wrong words. I wasn’t including the two of you."
Hearing his explanation, the two were utterly speechless. Damn it, that explanation was worse than no explanation at all.
The Falling Star Blade rose once more and hacked down violently. Terrifying power, immense pressure, and behind him thunder, a sea of blood, flames, and storm winds all emerged.
They wove together into a magnificent painting.
Boom!
Yu Chen was directly blasted away, vomiting blood. Faced with such a powerful Qin Yang, he did not dare remain any longer. If he stayed here, he felt certain he would be buried here.
"Trying to leave?"
"Not a chance." Zhang Kuang saw Yu Chen trying to flee and instantly closed in to hunt him down, while the others all surrounded him.
They had just been bullied terribly, and now that they saw Yu Chen in such a miserable state, they were all exceedingly pleased.
Damn, that felt truly satisfying.
Wang Kun and the other three elders were all flushed red. They had not experienced such a hearty battle in a very long time. The fight just now had caused the blood in their bodies, once cold and stagnant, to burn again, bringing new vitality surging back into them.
Their passion for martial cultivation returned once more to what it had been when they first stepped onto the path.
Filled with enthusiasm, filled with hope.
"Justice long delayed breeds its own downfall. Yu Chen, you have today as well. Rest assured, as for your Yu family, our Heavenly Demon Sect will go there and demand an accounting." At this moment, Leng Qianyou spoke in a cold, eerie voice.
Zhang Kuang was no less unwilling to be outdone. "And our Heavenly Martial Sect as well. Even if your Yu family is not utterly destroyed this time, you’ll probably be knocked out of the first tier. By then, I’m afraid you won’t even be able to hold onto the second tier."
"The Yu family is bound to become nothing more than a grain of sand in the ocean of history."
"Hmph, the Yu family? What does whether it lives or dies have to do with me? It’s nothing but a pack of people with no family feeling, caring only for profit. If you destroy the Yu family, I’ll even thank you!"
Everyone hearing this was stunned. No one had expected Yu Chen to feel no sense of belonging whatsoever toward the Yu family.
What an unexpected turn of events.
Qin Yang ignored him and walked forward step by step. Behind him, a boundless sea of blood surged, with a Blood Rakshasa standing to his left and a thunder god standing to his right.
At this point, Qin Yang slowly raised the Falling Star Blade once more.
The aura of slaughter instantly filled the entire sky.
A bleak chill, a dense murderous intent.
Seeing this, Yu Chen’s expression changed drastically. He bit the tip of his tongue hard and used a secret art, burning his own blood essence as he coldly looked at the others.
"If I do not die this time, I will surely repay your kindness another day."
"Trying to run?"
"Slash!" At that instant, the Falling Star Blade came down with a violent sweep, and a gigantic blade radiance appeared in the air, dancing through the heavens.
Yu Chen felt the piercing blade intent behind him and his face changed dramatically. In midair, he hurriedly tried to block it.
But he had underestimated the blade’s sharpness far too much. In an instant, it sliced through his feather fan, and one of his arms was severed.
Ah!
A bloodcurdling scream rang out. Yu Chen glared at everyone with deep hatred, not even bothering to retrieve the severed arm. He swiftly employed a secret escape art and vanished from everyone’s sight.
For some reason, watching him leave, Qin Yang suddenly felt that this man would certainly become a grave threat in the future.
"I will be back."
Yu Chen’s voice slowly echoed through the air, and everyone’s expression changed drastically.
