Volume Three: The Ten Directions of the Dao Chapter 83: Yu Chen's Sudden Assault
In the distance, more than a dozen figures approached, led by Yu Chen. His face was shrouded in gloom as he fixed his gaze on them, his murderous intent surging especially when his eyes landed on Leng Qianyou. The last time he’d entered the ancient ruins, he’d gained nothing and brought disgrace upon his family. In the end, he was punished by being sent into the Blood Cavern. By sheer luck, he survived and emerged with his strength soaring to the peak of the Path-Entry Realm.
This left him deeply dissatisfied, for he had planned to ascend straight into the Profound Realm, only to have his wishes dashed. Yu Chen had long noticed Wang Kun’s close relationship with Qin Yang, particularly when they were gathering precious medicinal herbs, and suspected they were up to something significant. He secretly ordered them watched. Learning they had come to the Blazing Flame Mountains surprised him, but it also felt inevitable.
His subordinates immediately sent word, and so he brought more than a dozen of the family’s elite, coming to kill without hesitation.
“Heh, Qin Yang’s inside, isn’t he?” Yu Chen swung his feather fan nonchalantly, a smile on his lips.
“No need to answer; I’ll see for myself.” Yu Chen strode forward. Leng Qianyou, Wang Kun, and the others all drew their weapons, preparing for battle.
“One more step, and you die.”
“Hmph, a few old fools think they can threaten me? How laughable.” Yu Chen suddenly stepped forward, hands dancing through the air as a breeze stirred, and in a flash, he appeared before the three of them.
Leng Qianyou’s eyes narrowed in shock. She hadn’t anticipated Yu Chen’s strength had grown so rapidly. It was too late to intercept him, and Wang Kun and the others were no match for Yu Chen; the outcome was decided in a single exchange.
Blood spurted from their mouths in unison, their hearts full of terror.
How had Yu Chen become so powerful? Compared to their last encounter, his strength had increased more than tenfold.
Yu Chen relished their expressions as he toyed with his feather fan, his vanity fully satisfied. With a wave to his men, he charged toward Leng Qianyou.
As the cherished daughter of the Heavenly Demon Sect, capturing Leng Qianyou alive or dead would be highly rewarding.
Just as Yu Chen believed victory was in his grasp, a sword light cleaved through the air, shattering his attack.
It was Wang Qian, ranked ninth among the Heavenly Demon Sect’s mightiest.
“Uncle Wang!” Leng Qianyou exclaimed with delight upon seeing him. She had thought he’d already left, never suspecting he’d been secretly protecting her all along. She was deeply moved.
“A Path-Entry peak? Just as well—I wanted to test my own strength.” Yu Chen snorted and unleashed a terrifying aura, launching himself at Wang Qian.
The men Yu Chen brought were all formidable, each an expert at the peak of the Path-Entry Realm, the very elite of the Yu family. Four faced such a host alone, and the pressure was immense.
Wang Kun and the others could only smile bitterly. They’d thought to quietly improve their strength this time, never expecting such a disastrous complication.
The battle raged on. No matter what, they had to hold these people back, preventing them from disturbing Qin Yang.
The fight was brutal. Outnumbered and forced to hold their ground, they were at a clear disadvantage, unable to retreat, which only increased the difficulty.
“Don’t get bogged down—head for the cave!” Leng Qianyou heard Yu Chen’s icy voice and her face turned frosty. “Despicable.”
“Hahaha! In this world, only success is remembered; who cares about the losers? If you all die here today, who would ever know it was by my hand? I’ll stage the scene, make it look like you fought over the spoils and killed each other. Hahaha!”
Leng Qianyou had never hated anyone as much as she hated Yu Chen now. He had finally earned a place on her kill-on-sight list.
At that moment, two men broke through their blockade, rushing toward the cave, only to be bounced back by a massive formation.
“Well, well, what a lively scene. How could there be a good show without me?” A voice rang out, arrogant and all too familiar.
Yu Chen’s expression changed dramatically as he recognized the newcomer—Zhang Kuang of the Heavenly Martial Sect had arrived. He hadn’t expected this, but with his own strength now ascended, his confidence returned.
Seeing Zhang Kuang was still at the peak of the Enlightened Realm, Yu Chen sneered with disdain. “So what if you’re here? Today, anyone who dares block my way must die.”
“Oh, really?” Zhang Kuang’s face was full of disbelief. Having survived a brush with death, his strength had advanced considerably, but he had chosen not to break through yet, waiting for the chance Qin Yang had promised him.
Some days earlier, Qin Yang had sent someone to summon him, saying he would be refining the Dao Comprehension Pill here in the Blazing Flame Mountains, so Zhang Kuang had come, though the message had been delayed and he arrived a bit late.
But, judging by the current situation, his timing was just right.
“If you want to enter the cave, you’ll have to see whether my Startling Swan Blade agrees.”
The blade was drawn. A terrifying, explosive aura soared into the sky as he slashed down fiercely.
The two Yu family experts paled; Zhang Kuang’s reputation was truly fearsome. They hesitated, but Zhang Kuang showed no mercy.
“Attack! Whoever it is, kill them. I’ll bear all the consequences myself!” The arrow was nocked and had to be released. If Zhang Kuang and Leng Qianyou survived, the Yu family would simultaneously offend both the Heavenly Demon Sect and the Heavenly Martial Sect—surely a fatal blow.
Everyone understood, so they struck mercilessly, aiming for vital points with ruthless and cunning moves.
With Zhang Kuang’s arrival, the pressure on Wang Kun’s group eased, but the situation remained dire.
Three against one—how could it be otherwise?
Damn, Qin Yang, I knew nothing good would come of your message. This was just a ploy to get me here as a guardian!
Zhang Kuang was speechless. Watching the two before him attack without regard for life or death, he shook his head helplessly. “Looks like I’ll have to go all out.”
Damn it, Qin Yang, you’d better not let me down, or I’ll kill you myself. This was the first time he’d ever been a guardian for someone else, and not even for his own sect—who would believe it?
Yu Chen’s face was dark as ink, his eyes cold enough to drip water. Gritting his teeth, he spun his feather fan, unleashing his full power. He had decided to hold nothing back. The battle here would soon attract many others, and a crowd would only complicate things.
“Finish this quickly.”
He unleashed a high-level palm technique, wounding Wang Qian, and sped toward the cave. Zhang Kuang tried to intercept him, but was sent flying with a single punch.
At the cave entrance, a shimmering energy shield covered everything. The shield was peculiar, but Yu Chen scoffed, lips curling in disdain.
“You think this alone can stop me? Dream on.”
His feather fan flicked rapidly, striking the same spot thousands of times in an instant. The energy shield shattered.
Leng Qianyou and her companions turned pale and leaped forward, blocking his path.
“We absolutely cannot let him enter.”
