Volume One: Beihai Qinyang Chapter 23: Mo Mo
The shouts rolled in like waves, sweeping over everything again and again. Standing amidst the crowd, Qin Yang couldn't help but cover his ears, his face full of helplessness as he watched the throng of frenzied fans. Their cheeks were flushed red with excitement.
Chen Mo Mo was known for her pure and boundless energy, a cheerful songbird in the entertainment industry. Online introductions described her as nineteen years old, a graduate of the Yan Jing Film Academy, and a woman of many talents. She was adept at music, chess, calligraphy, and painting—perhaps a result of her cultured upbringing, born into a family of scholars. The entertainment company she belonged to was founded by her own elder brother.
To speak of Chen Mo Mo was to mention her brother, a prodigy in the business world. The two were like the boundless waters—no one truly knew their depths. The internet claimed they hailed from a scholarly lineage, but not even the most persistent could uncover which family they belonged to. Her brother, Chen Tian, moved with the backing of many tycoons, each with assets exceeding ten billion. No one dared provoke him, so making his sister a star was a feat easily accomplished.
“Mo Mo!”
“Mo Mo!”
At the station exit, a figure wrapped tightly in a black trench coat, hat, mask, and sunglasses, so completely that her features were impossible to discern. Qin Yang couldn't recognize her, but seeing the excited crowd beside him, he guessed the person before him could only be Chen Mo Mo.
Chen Mo Mo was strikingly tall, standing at one meter seventy-five. Though only nineteen, her physique had already matured fully. Seeing so many fans gathered at the entrance, her face was filled with emotion—she had not expected to be greeted by fans upon her arrival in Bin City.
A middle-aged woman whispered a few words in her ear, and Chen Mo Mo looked in Qin Yang’s direction. The young man before her had fair skin, nearly as flawless as hers, eyes deep and endless, dressed in a suit that gave him a dashing air.
“Hello, everyone. I am Mo Mo. Thank you all for coming to meet me. I am truly moved, but we are blocking the traffic here. Shall we leave this place first?” Chen Mo Mo’s sweet voice rang out. The crowd, hearing her words, actually parted to make way.
Qin Yang regarded her with newfound respect. He hadn’t expected that her first concern would be not to let her arrival disrupt Bin City’s traffic. He signaled Wang Lei and Li Jun with his eyes, then stepped forward.
The young man beside Chen Mo Mo had eyes sharp as an eagle’s and looked at Qin Yang’s group with disdain.
Dressed in a black suit, his hair neatly slicked, his face bore a hint of darkness. His brows furrowed as he looked at Qin Yang, his gaze filled with displeasure—in truth, he disliked any man more handsome than himself.
“Miss Mo Mo, we…” Wang Lei stepped forward, but before he could finish, Zhuang Chun stopped him directly, “Mo Mo, the company has already prepared the car. I think we should leave first.”
Chen Mo Mo was momentarily stunned, then nodded, casting Wang Lei an apologetic glance.
Just as they were about to leave, a young man suddenly rushed out from the crowd, holding a bouquet of roses.
“Mo Mo, I like you! Marry me!”
The young man appeared so suddenly, moving swiftly toward Chen Mo Mo. Qin Yang had already noticed him, and immediately stepped forward, grabbing the youth’s arm and giving it a forceful twist, pulling him away from Chen Mo Mo.
The fans erupted in outrage.
Damn it, we wouldn’t dare touch Mo Mo, but this shameless guy actually tried—he deserves punishment!
The reporters, spotting a juicy story, snapped photos frantically.
The agent and Zhuang Chun hurriedly shielded Chen Mo Mo and led her away.
Seeing this, Qin Yang’s lips curled into a slight smile. Though he hadn’t met Chen Mo Mo this time, he believed they would meet again.
He patted Li Jun’s shoulder, and the three of them got into their car and drove off into the distance.
Now, Chen Mo Mo had only two choices: either return home, or head to the filming site. Qin Yang followed their car, knowing if anything unexpected happened, he could handle it promptly.
West Mountain Film City.
Located at the westernmost edge of Bin City, it was the largest in the city and the fifth largest film base in the country.
Screech!
A harsh braking sound pierced the air, especially as Zhuang Chun slammed the brakes. Fortunately, Wang Lei’s skill was good enough to avoid a collision.
Seeing the arrogant look of their opponent, Li Jun cursed as he got out of the car.
“You, get out here!” Li Jun pointed at Zhuang Chun, his finger directed downward, his face full of disdain.
Zhuang Chun could no longer hold back. He had served in the military, and though his overall abilities weren’t exceptional, they were above average.
He flexed his arms, sneering, “You dare block me? You’re asking for trouble.”
With those words, he kicked at Li Jun. Watching the incoming attack, Li Jun shook his head. In the past, he wouldn’t have been able to handle it, but lately, for reasons unknown, he felt his strength increasing day by day.
Bang!
He swiftly dodged Zhuang Chun’s kick and struck like lightning, his fist imbued with terrifying force.
Zhuang Chun was sent flying, sliding across the ground for more than ten meters.
Wang Lei, sitting in the car, looked at Li Jun with wide eyes, as if he had seen a ghost.
He knew Li Jun’s abilities, but hadn’t expected him to unleash such power—he was truly shocked.
How could this be?
How was it possible?
Zhuang Chun’s eyes were full of fear. He had never encountered such strength. Previously, he’d thought his abilities sufficient to dominate, but now he realized he’d been a frog in a well.
Qin Yang was about to step forward when he saw Wu Yao Yao and Su Ying approaching, curiosity in their eyes as they looked at the scene. Qin Yang scratched his head, “Ahem, we’re all ex-soldiers. When we meet, we like to spar a little.”
With two company executives watching him, Li Jun was extremely nervous. After hearing Qin Yang’s explanation, he forced himself to repeat it.
Su Ying looked at Qin Yang with a meaningful gaze, making him uneasy.
Especially now, with the two women dressed so lightly—he was certainly enjoying the view.
Inside the film base, there were people in all manner of costumes, even some actors dressed as Japanese soldiers, wandering about.
The incident with Zhuang Chun seemed forgotten by everyone, never mentioned again.
The three girls chatted animatedly, even agreeing to go shopping together in a few days.
Wu Yao Yao received a call from the director, informing her that shooting would begin soon, and urging them to take their places.
Sitting in the car, watching the figures enter, Qin Yang had no intention of going inside. Within the base, Mo Mo’s fans were numerous—autographs, photos, all handled after half an hour.
“What? He Xu Sheng isn’t coming?”
The director, hearing this, slammed down his phone, cursing, “Damn, if he’s not coming, he ought to say so earlier. To pull this now—he just wants more money, doesn’t he?”
