Volume Four: Fame Spreads in Every Direction Chapter 0140: The Northern Sage, the Southern King, Emperor Qin Yang (2)
Using his spiritual sense, he explored the stone. His face showed neither sorrow nor joy, as though he had entered some strange state. The enormous dragon formed from imperial green jadeite had been created by nature itself, yet it possessed the bearing of a grandmaster. The profound Dao intent contained within it was even more astonishing, and natural laws seemed to be hidden inside. If he could comprehend them, his Yin-Yang domain would benefit immensely.
Time passed little by little. Suddenly, his phone rang, and only then did he realize that the time was up. He drew a deep breath and gazed reluctantly at the rough stones. He turned over his number plate and walked outside. In any case, once he bought them, they would belong to him, so there was no need to care about a little extra time.
As Qin Yang stepped out, everyone turned their eyes toward him.
“Numbers!” the shop owner asked with a broad smile.
“9927, 9931, 3316, 7748…”
He called out more than a dozen numbers in one breath, stunning everyone present.
The shop owner did not care about those details. One of the rough stones alone had been priced at eighty million, and he had never expected it to be sold that day.
He called for people to move the rough stones, then sent someone to buy firecrackers. Everyone stared at him in bewilderment.
Damn, the contest had not even begun! Why was he already sending someone to buy firecrackers?
The North Sage, Sun Tianmu, had selected three pieces of jadeite and spent less than ten million.
The Jadeite King’s rough stones were more expensive, costing twelve million after rounding down.
Qin Yang had selected more than a dozen pieces. Everyone now stared at the shop owner, eager to know how much the young man had paid.
The shop owner drew a deep breath, his face filled with delight. “Grandmaster Qin has purchased thirteen rough stones, totaling one hundred and twenty-three million. After rounding down, the amount is one hundred and twenty million.”
Hiss!
Everyone drew in a sharp breath.
Damn, did this man have no sense of frugality at all? He had spent one hundred and twenty million on a single round of jadeite gambling. Good heavens, this really was a game only the wealthy could afford. Ordinary people simply could not play it.
Money was nothing more than a bastard. If it was gone, he could always earn more. His greatest gains this time were the giant imperial-green dragon jadeite and a spirit stone. If the two were sold at auction, their combined value would probably be no less than a billion.
The firecrackers began to explode. After Qin Yang paid by card, the smile on his face grew even broader, because all the rough stones had been brought out by then.
Ye Meier and Zhang Mengqi hurried over after hearing the news. Looking at Qin Yang, they both pouted. In barely any time at all, the two of them had already lost a million.
They felt somewhat dejected, secretly wishing that they possessed Qin Yang’s ability.
After hearing the discussions around them, both women looked astonished. What kind of jadeite had Qin Yang found that had made him throw out such an enormous sum?
The Jadeite King and the North Sage stared at the rough stones being pushed out, their faces filled with surprise. The Jadeite King was especially stunned when he saw that one of them was the rough stone he had discussed with Qin Yang earlier.
He gave a bitter smile. “I never thought that fellow would actually buy it.”
“What is it?” Sun Tianmu asked softly, frowning.
The Jadeite King immediately recounted what had happened between him and Qin Yang. When Sun Tianmu heard the story, his eyes widened. Even the Jadeite King had been unable to make a judgment, yet Qin Yang had purchased the stone without so much as blinking. He truly was recklessly wealthy.
Standing below the stage, Zhang Mengqi’s eyes were filled with excitement and anticipation. She looked at Ye Meier’s calm face and said speechlessly, “Sister Ye, aren’t you worried at all?”
Ye Meier shook her head when she heard that.
Worried? What was there to worry about? She knew Qin Yang’s ability when it came to gambling on jadeite. He was definitely a master.
Although he was facing the North Sage, Sun Tianmu, and the Jadeite King this time, for some reason, she held only one conviction in her heart:
Qin Yang would definitely win.
“Brother Qin, it looks like you have gained quite a lot this time!” Sun Tianmu stroked his graying beard and spoke with a hearty laugh.
“Heh heh, it is not bad. To be honest, defeating the two of you will probably not be easy.”
“All right, enough with the small talk. Let us begin. I can hardly wait,” the Jadeite King said impatiently as he looked at the two men, who were still chatting.
“Since you are in such a hurry, let us begin. The preparations have already been completed anyway.”
Three large cutting machines had been made ready, and the cutting masters had already been summoned.
Qin Yang watched the other two select their stones, and the smile in his heart grew increasingly pronounced.
With his spiritual sense, he knew that both the rough stone in his hands and the other two he had selected were absolutely top-grade.
The North Sage had chosen an ice-type stone. That single rough stone would be enough to cover the purchase price. If the other two stones also produced jadeite, Sun Tianmu would make an enormous profit.
The Jadeite King’s selection was similar to the North Sage’s. Seeing the smiles spreading across their faces, Qin Yang smiled as well.
There was no fun in winning by a narrow margin. Overwhelming them was what made things interesting.
He brought out the rough stone containing the Blood Phoenix, a red jadeite, and placed it on the cutting machine.
Everyone looked at the stone Qin Yang had chosen and frowned. The others had selected enormous pieces, while his was exceptionally small, even smaller than the ones chosen by the Jadeite King and the North Sage, Sun Tianmu.
What the hell? Had this guy come here just to fool around? Did he want to watch the North Sage and the Southern King compete, join in the excitement, and make a name for himself? If so, wasn’t the price rather too high?
Everyone began discussing him, but Qin Yang paid no attention. He looked at the cutting master and drew lines on the stone.
He chose to cut away one-quarter from each of the four sides, shaping it into a square, and then began rubbing the surface.
Although the cutting master did not understand why Qin Yang wanted to cut it that way, he had worked in the trade for many years. He nodded and asked no further questions.
“Green!”
Someone shouted.
Countless people turned toward the elevated platform, and a chorus of startled cries immediately rose from the crowd.
“The North Sage’s rough stone! Good heavens, I never thought it would be an ice-type jadeite!”
“Exactly. The North Sage truly deserves his reputation as a master of jadeite gambling. With the first cut, he has already made a huge profit. Unlike certain people who are so desperate for fame that they have gone mad.”
Qin Yang managed to endure it, but Ye Meier and Zhang Mengqi nearly exploded. If he had not restrained them, the person who had spoken would probably have been lining up at the hospital.
Sizzle!
A cut had already been made into the rough stone chosen by the Jadeite King, and everyone fell silent.
Good heavens, it was an ice-type jadeite as well. Why did it feel as though ice-type jadeite had gathered here today?
Just as the others were cutting open their stones, Qin Yang’s chosen piece officially began to be worked on.
Both the Jadeite King and the North Sage, Sun Tianmu, were extremely confident in their own selections. As for Qin Yang, however, this young man was impossible for them to read.
The stone on the elevated platform had already received its first cut, yet there was not the slightest trace of jadeite. Laughter and mockery rose from below.
Sun Tianmu frowned. The rough stone did not look as though it could produce jadeite at all. But since Qin Yang had chosen it, he must have had a reason.
Moreover, Sun Tianmu knew something of Qin Yang’s skill at gambling on jadeite.
Could there be some great secret hidden inside?
“Full-green ice jadeite!”
Everyone stared at the North Sage in shock. Judging from the size of this ice-type jadeite alone, it was worth at least three million. If it continued to develop in the same direction, its value could easily reach ten million.
A master was indeed a master. He had chosen casually, yet still found a full-green piece.
By this time, most of the jadeite selected by the Jadeite King had been revealed.
It was ice-white ice jadeite. Compared with the North Sage, Sun Tianmu’s extreme green, the Jadeite King’s stone displayed an extreme whiteness—pure and flawless.
In terms of price, the two were virtually evenly matched.
Ma San shou frowned as he stared at the platform. Could Grandmaster Qin have misjudged it?
This rough stone should not have contained any jadeite at all!
The cutting master was extremely depressed. Three cuts had already been made, yet not the slightest trace of green had appeared. Looking at the excited expressions on the faces of the two cutting masters beside him, he felt utterly speechless.
What a pity.
He had chosen the wrong cutting machine. He should have gone to work with them from the beginning.
Feeling deeply frustrated, he looked at the young man below as Qin Yang wiped the sweat from his face and asked, “Do you still want me to keep cutting?”
