Volume Four: Renowned Far and Wide Chapter 121: The Blind Date

Urban Supreme Immortal Qin Yang of the Northern Sea 2678 words 2026-03-25 01:44:27

The past few days had been peaceful. Neither the Pan family nor Du Lang had come looking for trouble. Everyone in Sanmiao Village knew that the old Qin family had produced an extraordinary son—a man who could kick a wolf in sheep’s clothing and subdue a martial arts master with his fists.

The younger generation even openly remarked that if Qin Yang were to open a martial arts school, they would certainly sign up. Unfortunately, Qin Yang had no such intentions.

Qin Yang seemed quite relaxed. He brewed a pot of fine tea and practiced his boxing in the courtyard. He had asked He Tianlong to source some medicinal herbs, intending to refine pills to improve his parents' health and longevity—and, at the very least, to heal his father’s leg.

Before Ye Mei’er or Zhang Mengqi could arrive, Qin’s mother hurried home, looking flustered.

She watched her son, who looked remarkably spirited in the courtyard. He was sipping tea and practicing a set of boxing moves she had never seen before; the movements were incredibly slow, even slower than Tai Chi. "Son, hurry up! Honghong just returned from the provincial capital. I spoke with your Uncle Wang, and we’ve arranged for you two to meet."

"The location is set at the July Pavilion in town."

Qin Yang, who had been focused on his training, felt his face twitch. "Mom, who is this Honghong?"

"And did you even ask for my consent? I have no intention of going on a blind date. Besides, I have a girlfriend," he argued, trying to reason with her.

"A girlfriend? With your honest, plain-looking face, who would take a fancy to you? Just go. Your Uncle Wang and your father are like brothers, and this matter is already settled. Put on some decent clothes and go."

"Mom, can I not go?"

"No! You’re twenty-three already. Look at Er Gouzi next door; he’s the same age as you and his son can already run around. If you don't bring a girlfriend back soon, I won't stop setting you up. Remember, you’d better find one, or this definitely won't be the last time." His mother said with a stern face.

Feeling helpless, he dug out a clean set of clothes, checked the time, and caught a bus to town.

The July Pavilion was quite famous in town. Locals usually went there to dine; the food was authentic, and the environment was elegant.

He arrived under the scorching sun. It was still early, so the place wasn't very crowded, and he soon spotted Uncle Wang in the main hall.

"Uncle Wang!"

Wang Erlong was Uncle Wang’s name. He looked at Qin Yang and was quite satisfied with both his height and appearance—after all, this was his sworn brother’s son.

"Qin Yang, sit down quickly. Honghong and your Auntie Wang haven't arrived yet. Honghong insisted on dragging her mother to the mall; she has absolutely no sense of time," Uncle Wang said apologetically.

"Heh, it’s fine, Uncle Wang. Besides, I don’t have anything important to do anyway."

He remembered Uncle Wang from his childhood, but he had no recollection of this "Auntie Wang." In his memory, she didn't seem to exist.

Just as he was chatting with Uncle Wang, Ye Mei’er called. A faint smile crossed his face. *So, you finally remembered me.*

"Boss, where are you?"

"At the July Pavilion. Why?"

Ye Mei’er paused. She knew of the July Pavilion and wondered why Qin Yang had gone there.

"What? Are you treating classmates, or your aunt and uncle to a meal?"

"Oh, no. My mom arranged a blind date for me, and I’m here..." Before Qin Yang could finish, the person on the other end hung up, leaving him completely bewildered.

*Damn it, I told her I was on a blind date. Shouldn't she be crying and screaming to stop me? Why did she hang up?*

A dozen minutes later, two women walked in. Seeing them, Qin Yang’s mood instantly plummeted.

*How could it be this bad? If it’s them, I’d rather jump off a building.*

"Honghong, hurry over. This is Qin Yang, the son of the Qin family," Uncle Wang stood up quickly and introduced them with a smile.

It really was them!

Looking at the two women, their combined weight was at least four hundred pounds, if not more. Auntie Wang’s clothes were stretched tight against her body, and looking at Uncle Wang’s frail frame, it was hard to imagine if Auntie Wang would break him if she sat on him.

As for the woman named Honghong, her clothing choices and taste were quite high-end; she must be a white-collar worker.

"Oh," Wang Honghong replied, looking at Qin Yang’s street-stall attire with a lack of interest.

Uncle Wang felt embarrassed, as he was the one who had suggested this to old Qin.

Auntie Wang didn't recognize Qin Yang and asked with a smile, "Little Qin, how many people are in your family?"

"Four. I have a younger sister in high school who is taking her college entrance exam in a few days."

"What do your parents do?"

"My parents are simple villagers. They work the land, day in and day out. It’s very hard."

Upon hearing this, Auntie Wang stopped asking. What era was this? They were still stuck in the village. Even though her own family wasn't doing great, they had at least bought one apartment in the county seat and were planning to buy a second.

Wang Honghong looked highly arrogant. "If you want to date me, you need to have the capital."

"Do you have a house? Do you have savings? What’s your salary?"

Qin Yang looked at the chubby Wang Honghong and wondered where she got her confidence. Not only was her face pockmarked, but she was also incredibly obese.

"We have a courtyard house at home."

"I haven't really paid attention to my savings."

"I’m not very clear on my salary, either."

Wang Honghong looked at him with disdain and said haughtily, "With your conditions, you want to chase me? I work in the provincial capital, earning 8,000 a month. With a little overtime, it definitely exceeds 10,000. I’m saving up this year to buy an apartment in the city next year."

"Do you know the housing prices in the provincial capital?"

"Thirty to forty thousand in the city center, and over twenty thousand in the suburbs. Looking at you, you’ll probably never be able to afford a house in your lifetime."

"Honghong, you child..." Uncle Wang tried to interject, but Auntie Wang glared at him, forcing him to swallow his words.

Qin Yang realized that Uncle Wang had good intentions, but he had no authority in this house; the power clearly rested with Auntie Wang.

"Fine. Talking to someone like you is a waste of time. With this time, I could pick up a side job and make a few thousand."

*Click, click, click.*

Ye Mei’er hurried in, her high heels clicking on the floor. She smiled cheerfully, "Boss, are you being insulted?"

"The company has already acquired the assets of the Guo Group, and there are some important matters that need your attention."

She then looked at Wang Honghong with a sweet smile. "Madam, our boss owns a courtyard house in Bincheng worth tens of millions."

"And he really doesn't know how much he has in savings or what his salary is, because he takes an annual dividend."

"He owns two companies, Tianyang Group and Tianyang Investment Co., Ltd., both of which are hundred-billion-dollar enterprises. I really don't understand how someone like you, who relies on a salary to survive, has the audacity to look down on our boss."

"Do you have a house? Oh, you haven't bought one yet? Then you have nothing!"

"Savings? How much do you have? A few hundred thousand?"

"I’m afraid that’s not even a fraction of our boss’s pocket change!"

Wang Honghong and Auntie Wang looked horrified. They never expected that, in the end, they would be lectured by a stranger.

"Hmph, you’re all in on this together. You must have colluded!"

Qin Yang stood up and looked at Uncle Wang with a smile. "Uncle Wang, I’m leaving. As for this... let’s just forget it."

Ye Mei’er linked her arm with his and walked outside. Just then, six matching Lamborghini sports cars pulled up, instantly drawing a crowd of onlookers.

Seeing the luxury cars outside, Wang Honghong, as a city white-collar worker, naturally knew they were incredibly expensive.

Wang Honghong looked frustrated, and Auntie Wang’s expression darkened. "That’s your sworn brother’s son? He’s so rich and he didn't even tell us! Hmph, don't think about coming home today!"
