Volume Four: Renowned Across the Lands Chapter 115: The Guo Family of Beihai
On June 1st, the grand wedding of the eldest young master of the Guo family in Beihai was held at the Beihai Sunshine Resort.
In recent days, the media—both newspapers and online—had been flooded with extensive coverage and promotion.
Qin Yang held the invitation in his hand, a growing smile spreading across his face. As for Ye Meier and Zhang Mengqi, they were well aware of Qin Yang’s intentions and had each obtained an invitation through various channels.
After waiting so long, the day had finally arrived. He wondered what expression she would wear when he saw her once more.
Wang Qiang was aware of his plan, but Zhou Ming remained in the dark. After all, Zhou Ming was the only one among them who didn’t know. They had to put on a performance—otherwise, if everyone acted nonchalantly, it would seem utterly fake.
So, they chose not to tell Zhou Ming. On the way, Wang Qiang even advised him not to overreact afterward.
Yesterday, Qin Yang received information from Gong Hai and data sent by Yaoh Ji.
The Guo family’s initial rise to wealth had been unconventional—they profited through forceful buying and selling. Subsequently, a large influx of overseas funds poured in, causing the Guo family to expand rapidly.
Behind this, there were shadows of financial tycoons, but more so, the movements of the Japanese pirates.
Controlling a regional conglomerate was a means to obtain intelligence within China.
With the investigation deepening, the revelations became increasingly shocking. Had Qin Yang not prompted them to dig deeper, they would never have imagined that such spy-like companies existed domestically.
The higher-ups had made their intentions clear: at all costs, crush the rot.
At the Beihai Sunshine Resort,
Guo Qilin, dressed in a suit, with a square face and protruding beer belly, wore a kindly smile as he watched his son trying on his outfit. He felt helpless—despite introducing many well-bred young ladies to his son, the boy had rejected them all, instead infatuated with a peasant girl of no background or status.
This infuriated him, as it was unfavorable to the strategic plans he had laid out.
Fortunately, the recent influx of major groups offered a glimmer of hope. His interactions with these people had been friendly, which boosted his confidence and lessened his resistance to his son’s choice.
If he could connect with these large conglomerates, it would be a qualitative leap for both his company and the financial giants behind it.
Many guests arrived this time. Because of the large crowd, Wang Qiang and his group disembarked early and headed inside.
At the entrance,
Zeng Qian stood there wearing a pure white wedding gown, her face radiant with happiness, looking truly blissful.
Seeing her smile stung Qin Yang’s heart inexplicably. She was his first girlfriend—he had loved, cared for, and protected her, only to be mercilessly abandoned in the end.
And the arrogant face of Guo Zifeng—he would never forget.
Also, the parents of the eldest young master—their grudge would be addressed today.
Feeling the warmth of a hand on his, Qin Yang saw Ye Meier shake her head, indicating she was fine.
Zeng Qian’s smile deepened when she saw Wang Qiang and the others arrive. Although she had once been a top student, she lacked prestigious background and was looked down upon. The arrival of Guo Zifeng had given her hope, and she had ruthlessly abandoned Qin Yang to throw herself into Guo Zifeng’s arms.
“Congratulations on your wedding.”
“Congratulations.”
“Thank you all for coming. I’m very happy,” Zeng Qian said to Qin Yang. She noticed two beautiful women standing beside him and was momentarily stunned before nodding in acknowledgment: “Qin Yang, you came too.”
“Yes, I’m alive and well. Congratulations on your wedding.”
“Congratulations on your wedding?” Qin Yang inwardly scoffed. “What a joke. Every time I say this, it feels nauseating. You all drove me to desperation, to the brink of suicide, but today, everything will come back to you.”
“Thank you, Qin Yang, I’m truly glad you came. Please, come inside quickly,” Zeng Qian said, her eyes glistening with tears.
Glad? He smiled coldly. Soon, she would no longer feel that way. Nodding, he stepped inside, watching as Zeng Qian greeted the other guests with a beaming face.
“So fake,” someone muttered.
“Yes, the world of high society is not for ordinary people. Without a bit of cunning, how could she have married Guo Zifeng!” another whispered.
Qin Yang felt deeply reflective. Indeed, Zeng Qian had changed—so much so that he barely recognized her.
Only a few classmates had come this time, all seated at the same table. Curiously, the class monitor, who had been influential in college, was absent.
They knew from the last reunion that Han Zihua had clashed with Qin Yang. His absence now—could it be connected?
Everyone stared at Qin Yang, hoping to read his expression, but found him as composed as ever. Accompanied by two stunning companions, he simply shook his head.
Music played, signaling the start of the wedding ceremony.
Under the lights, Qin Yang finally saw the person who had once driven him to despair.
Guo Zifeng.
Guo Zifeng wore a pristine white suit, his face alight with smiles. Today was his day of joy, the day he would marry the woman he loved.
Beside him stood Zeng Qian, like a pair of celestial beings.
Suddenly, Guo Zifeng’s eyes narrowed sharply when he saw Qin Yang, but a cold smile crept across his lips. “Qin Yang, what are you doing here?”
Zeng Qian stood beside him. “I invited him.”
“Why?”
“Because my ex-boyfriend has become someone else’s wife—my husband’s woman. Isn’t that exciting?” Zeng Qian replied casually.
Indeed, Guo Zifeng’s eyes brightened at these words. Under everyone’s watchful gaze, he suddenly kissed her lips.
“I finally understand why I love you so much because you know me so well. Everything you do makes me comfortable. After the ceremony, I will love you passionately.”
Their whispered words faded as the ceremony began.
The classmates all watched Qin Yang, hoping to catch a glimpse of his reaction. But he remained calm, with two beautiful women beside him, prompting many to shake their heads.
Bang!
Zhou Ming suddenly slammed the table, his face dark with fury.
Wang Qiang was sullen but said nothing.
He knew such anger was meaningless. There was a time when he wanted to storm in wielding a kitchen knife—how ridiculous that seemed now. If he had really gone in like that, he wouldn’t have even made it through the gate before being taken away.
“小四, what’s with that face? It’s a wedding—should be a happy occasion. With that sour look, people might think it’s a funeral!” Qin Yang said.
At his words, Guo Zifeng’s once cheerful face twisted into a snarl as he advanced toward Qin Yang. “You little punk, I didn’t finish you off last time. Are you looking for death today?”
Heh!
“Who are you calling a little punk?”
“You’re the little punk!”
Laughter erupted around them. This was too entertaining—the eldest young master of the Guo family admitting to being a little punk.
Realizing the reaction, Guo Zifeng’s eyes filled with murderous intent. “Qin Yang, I’ll deal with you later. To those who came to celebrate, Guo Zifeng is delighted. But if you’re here to cause trouble, I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to leave. Besides, I doubt some of you even have money for a wedding gift.”
“And to this gentleman here, please give my regards to my uncle and aunt,” Guo Zifeng said with a smile to Wang Qiang.
That remark seemed to ignite a fuse.
“Guo Zifeng, you won’t last long. Here’s my wedding gift.” Several people immediately pulled out red envelopes and threw them on the table.
