It all happened in the blink of an eye.

Yet in a fraction of a second, the airplane came to a standstill.

The falling fuselage froze. The passengers’ horrified expressions froze. Even the flock of crows outside froze with it.

It was a single instant.

And the stillness lasted for only that same instant.

Boom!

The plane slammed heavily into the ground, carving out a huge crater.

Cough, cough!

The passengers in the cabin burst into violent coughing. Everyone blinked, dazed and uncertain.

“What just happened?”

“We’re not dead?”

“Who saved us?”

“No idea!”

At that moment, the chief flight attendant hurried forward and said, “Everyone, don’t panic. Our captain saved all of you!”

The passengers blinked.

“It must have been the captain!”

“Yes! That’s right!”

Nearby, Zhao Feng looked left and right with the expression of someone who had narrowly escaped death.

Hong Chang frowned.

She leaned close to Zhao Feng’s ear and whispered, “Tell me the truth. Was it you?”

Zhao Feng rolled his eyes. “How could it be me?”

Hong Chang frowned. “Really not you?”

Zhao Feng shook his head. “Really not me.”

“Keep pretending to be confused if you like.”

Zhao Feng rubbed his nose and said nothing.

Then the cockpit door opened.

The co-pilot walked into the cabin, supporting a figure in his arms.

It was the captain.

Blood covered the captain’s body everywhere. Shards of glass were still embedded in him.

The co-pilot looked frantic. He shouted, “Is there a doctor among the passengers?”

“Is there a doctor among the passengers?”

He shouted again.

But no one answered.

The co-pilot turned to the chief flight attendant. “Check the boarding records now!”

“Yes!”

The chief flight attendant pulled out a blue folder and began looking through it.

Her eyes lit up. She had finally found a passenger listed as a doctor.

His name was Shen Hua.

He was the very man who had once treated the old master of the Xiang family.

Shen Hua had already been about to leave, but after being humiliated by Xiang Hu, he had felt resentment. And after that, he had grown even more bitter toward Qiu He. That was why he had delayed his departure.

The chief flight attendant hurriedly picked up the intercom. “Mr. Shen Hua, are you there? Please come to the economy cabin!”

“Mr. Shen Hua, are you there? Please come to the economy cabin!”

She repeated it several times before a man in a white coat finally arrived at a leisurely pace.

Shen Hua reached the economy cabin and asked coldly, “What is it?”

The chief flight attendant bowed and scraped. “Mr. Shen, someone here is injured!”

Shen Hua glanced at the captain lying on the floor.

He gave a snort. “Just a bit of superficial injury. He won’t die!”

Boom!

The co-pilot exploded with rage. “What did you say?”

Shen Hua shrugged. “I’m telling the truth.”

“You son of a—”

The co-pilot slapped Shen Hua across the face.

Shen Hua stared at him in disbelief. “You hit me?”

The co-pilot gave a cold laugh. “That’s exactly what I did.”

“Ah!”

Shen Hua screamed, “I’ll fight you to the end!”

With that, he flailed wildly and lunged at the co-pilot.

But the co-pilot had come up through the military; in one swift motion, he kicked Shen Hua square in the abdomen.

Cough!

The frail Shen Hua immediately vomited up a mouthful of yellow fluid. It was bile.

By then, Shen Hua had been forced to throw up even his bile.

The co-pilot looked down at him coldly. “What a piece of trash. I have no idea how someone like you ever became a doctor.”

Shen Hua glared furiously at him. “If you’ve got the nerve, then beat me to death. If you kill me, that captain will die too!”

“What do you mean by that?” the co-pilot roared.

“Hmph!” Shen Hua said. “I mean his heart is failing. He won’t last much longer.”

Boom!

The co-pilot was instantly enraged.

“You damned scum! Treat him now, right this second!”

“Hmph.” Shen Hua sneered. “Then let him wait and die.”

The co-pilot was about to say more when the captain, still lying on the floor, suddenly began to tremble all over. Black blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

Everyone was shocked.

“What’s going on?”

“Why is he vomiting black blood?”

The co-pilot panicked too.

He looked at Shen Hua. “What’s happening?”

“Hmph.” Shen Hua let out a cold snort. “That’s a symptom of internal organ injury.”

“Then hurry up and save him!”

“Heh.” Shen Hua gave a mocking laugh. “Weren’t you pretty arrogant just now?”

“I—” The co-pilot was speechless.

At this point, Shen Hua was no longer in a hurry.

He folded his arms and watched the co-pilot as though enjoying a joke.

The co-pilot took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

He looked at Shen Hua. “What do you want me to do before you’ll treat him?”

Shen Hua shook his head coldly. “Unless you kneel and kowtow!”

“You!” The co-pilot was furious and almost lost control.

But when he looked at the captain on the floor, he ultimately held himself back.

The co-pilot took a deep breath and bowed deeply. “I’m sorry!”

Shen Hua smiled with amusement. “I told you to kneel and kowtow.”

The co-pilot was seething, but there was nothing he could do.

He inhaled sharply. “Fine. I can kneel, but you have to treat him first!”

Shen Hua shook his head. “No. Kowtow first!”

“I—”

The co-pilot looked at the cold, indifferent passengers around him and suddenly felt his heart turn to ash.

He and the captain had risked their lives to save these people, only for this to be the outcome.

The co-pilot sighed. “Fine. I’ll kneel.”

A mocking smile curved Shen Hua’s lips.

The co-pilot bent his knees, just about to go down, when suddenly a pair of arms appeared and supported him by the arm.

He froze, then looked up to see a bright, sunny smile.

It was Zhao Feng.

The co-pilot blinked. “Young man, what is it?”

Zhao Feng said nothing. He turned abruptly.

His gaze fell coldly on Shen Hua. “You piece of trash! You actually dare to make a national hero kneel? Has a dog eaten your conscience?”

Shen Hua laughed.

With a sneer, he said, “Captain, I’ve changed my mind. You must kowtow to me three times, or I won’t save anyone.”

“You!” the co-pilot roared in rage. “How can you go back on your word?”

“Ten times.”

Shen Hua spoke lazily.

“You!”

“Twenty times.”

“Fine, fine, I’ll kneel! I’ll kneel!”

“Good, good,” Shen Hua said with a laugh. “That’s more like it.”

The co-pilot glanced at the passengers around him. They had already been rescued, and now every one of them was merely watching the spectacle.

He could only feel bitter disappointment in human nature.

“Ah...”

He let out a long, weary sigh and was just about to kneel when suddenly he heard a sharp slap.

The co-pilot was stunned.

He looked up and saw that Zhao Feng had slapped Shen Hua.

Shen Hua stood there, dumbfounded.

“Ah!”

After a long beat, Shen Hua let out a shrill scream.

“You little bastard, how dare you hit me?”

Zhao Feng’s expression was icy. A cruel smile touched the corner of his mouth. “I’m not only going to hit you. I’m going to throw you out into the wild mountains and wilderness.”

Only then did the others realize that the scene outside the plane was nothing but a desolate stretch of mountains and wilderness.

Whoosh!

The cabin erupted in alarm.

“How are we supposed to get out?”

“Yeah, exactly!”

“What do we do? Are we going to be trapped here?”
