Chapter 045: Restless Heart
Zhao Feng’s gaze drifted slowly downward, finally settling on Liu Dahua’s crotch.
A mysterious smile curled on Zhao Feng’s lips, sending a chill down Liu Dahua’s spine.
Liu Dahua stammered, “Brother Zhao, please don’t do this. I’m really not into that sort of thing!”
Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Liu Dahua suddenly realized why Zhao Feng seemed so indifferent to all those stunning beauties. So, this is what he likes!
He gulped, his voice quivering, “Brother Zhao, I swear, I’m really not into that!”
At that moment, he was on the verge of tears.
The corners of Zhao Feng’s mouth lifted slightly. “What do you mean? What do you mean you’re not into that?”
Liu Dahua’s face twisted in misery. “I just mean, I’m really not into that!”
Zhao Feng sneered wordlessly and strode toward him.
Terrified, Liu Dahua fell on his rear, scrambling backward until he reached a corner where he could retreat no further.
Soon, Zhao Feng was standing right beside him.
Liu Dahua sobbed, “Brother Zhao, please, let me go! Please!”
His heart was in torment—not for any other reason, but because he was terrified Zhao Feng might actually do something to him.
He was scared half to death.
Zhao Feng smiled and said, “Liu Dahua, let me give you a piece of advice!”
Liu Dahua swallowed hard. “Brother Zhao, I’m listening!”
“If you intend to remain a man, you’d best learn to behave yourself!”
Liu Dahua nodded frantically. “Yes! Yes, I will!”
Suddenly, Zhao Feng raised his right foot and, with lightning speed, kicked Liu Dahua hard in the groin.
“Aaah!”
A wretched scream tore from Liu Dahua’s throat.
“Ow!”
“Owowowow!”
Clutching his crotch, Liu Dahua writhed on the ground in agony.
Zhao Feng let out two cold laughs. “Liu Dahua, take this as your lesson. If I ever catch you behaving immorally again, I’ll kill you.”
As he spoke, a sinister air emanated from him, as though he were a demon lord risen from the depths of hell.
Liu Dahua lay twitching on the ground, convulsing in pain, foam at his mouth, looking like someone in the throes of a seizure.
“Hmph!”
Zhao Feng turned to look at Ah Tai.
Ah Tai was petrified with fear.
He stammered, “You… what do you want from me?”
Zhao Feng watched him for a moment, then said, “I know you may have acted out of fear of power, but that doesn’t excuse you.”
Zhao Feng reached out, pulled a rusty nail from the wall, and hurled it suddenly.
The nail spun through the air with a shrill whistle.
Bang!
It struck Ah Tai square in the chest.
“Cough!”
Ah Tai clutched his chest, racked with violent coughs.
He stared at Zhao Feng in terror. “What did you do to me?”
Zhao Feng gave him a cryptic smile. “Nothing, just a lesson for you.”
Ah Tai’s panic deepened. “What’s happening to me?”
“Nothing much. From now on, you’ll suffer from spasms in your limbs and have trouble moving. In other words, you won’t be able to work anymore.”
Ah Tai froze, and when realization dawned, he looked at Zhao Feng with fury. “Why are you doing this to me?”
Zhao Feng sneered, “I never claimed to be a good person, nor do I have time to play the hero for anyone. It’s just…”
“Just what?” Ah Tai demanded angrily.
A cold grin curled Zhao Feng’s lips. “Just that your behavior offends my sense of justice, that’s all.”
“That’s all?” Ah Tai asked.
Zhao Feng nodded. “That’s all.”
“You—” Ah Tai choked on his words, his face flushed with rage.
With the matter settled, Zhao Feng scooped up the little girl and walked over to Xianglan.
“Sister, you have nowhere else to go now, do you?” Zhao Feng asked softly.
Xianglan was still in shock, so much so that she barely registered Zhao Feng’s words. After a pause, she nodded. “This prefab room is all I have.”
Zhao Feng smiled gently, his manner warm and reassuring. “Sister, if you don’t mind, you can stay at my place for a while.”
Xianglan looked at him and saw a radiance and vitality in his eyes that was impossible to ignore. Moved by his presence, she nodded almost instinctively. “Alright, thank you for your kindness.”
Zhao Feng said nothing more, simply smiled.
He picked up the little girl and headed out of the prefab room, Xianglan hurriedly gathering her things to follow.
Holding the girl in his arms, Zhao Feng let out a quiet breath. “These two are truly extraordinary.”
“One has a Nine-Charms Spiritual Body, the other is born with the Dao Body.”
“These two physiques are legendary even in the immortal sects.”
“To think I’d encounter them here, in this barren mortal realm—what on earth is happening? Unless…”
“Unless this world is truly changing?”
Indeed, that was the real reason Zhao Feng had followed them. He’d already sensed their uniqueness back on the main street.
The little girl’s congenital Dao Body was so powerful that her own body was frail as a result.
That was one of the nine great physiques among the immortal sects!
The three of them returned to the snack street.
Li Ping was in the crowd, looking around anxiously. Zhao Feng came up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.
Li Ping spun around, then lit up with surprise. “Zhao Feng? Where did you go?”
Zhao Feng rolled his eyes. “I’ve been here the whole time.”
Li Ping blinked. “The whole time? How come I didn’t see you?”
Zhao Feng glared at him. “You must have been slacking off, sneaking away to eat something good by yourself.”
“I—” Li Ping rubbed his nose guiltily. “I didn’t, I swear!”
“Hmph!”
“I can smell egg pancakes on your breath! Still want to deny it?”
“Heh heh heh…” Li Ping scratched his head sheepishly.
It was only then that Li Ping noticed Xianglan and her daughter.
He blinked, puzzled. “Who are they?”
“Distant relatives,” Zhao Feng replied.
“Distant relatives?”
“That’s right.”
“How come I’ve never heard of them?” Li Ping asked.
Zhao Feng rolled his eyes. “How long have you even been living at my place? You expect to know everything?”
“Well…” Li Ping was left speechless.
Zhao Feng waved him off. “Alright, let’s go home.”
Li Ping scratched his head and held up a small box. “Hey, do you still want the stinky tofu?”
Zhao Feng waved his hand. “No, toss it.”
Suddenly, a timid voice piped up, “Big Brother Zhao Feng…”
Zhao Feng glanced at the little girl in his arms and blinked. “What is it, sweetheart?”
She gazed longingly at the stinky tofu in Li Ping’s hands. “Big Brother Zhao Feng, could you not throw it away? Can I have it?”
Zhao Feng smiled gently. “It’s gone cold. I’ll buy you a fresh one.”
“I like it cold,” she said, disappointment flickering in her eyes.
Zhao Feng hesitated.
