Chapter 033: A Drop of Blood
Zhao Feng uttered something inexplicable, leaving Zhao Jun just as confused. Zhao Feng patted Zhao Jun’s shoulder. “Dad, wait for me a moment.”
With that, Zhao Feng strode into the courtyard.
A thunderous noise erupted as Zhao Feng launched a swift kick. Liu Dahua was sent tumbling head over heels. Then, Zhao Feng proceeded, one kick per person.
Cries of pain rang out wherever he passed.
Within two minutes, the hundred or so blond troublemakers Liu Dahua had brought were all sprawled on the ground. Liu Dahua himself lay flat as well.
Zhao Feng seized Liu Dahua by the neck and hoisted him up.
“Liu Dahua, you’re quite bold, aren’t you?”
Liu Dahua’s face bore a clear footprint, a trickle of blood at the corner of his mouth. He looked at Zhao Feng in terror. “Zhao…Zhao Feng, we agreed that if you didn’t have a million today, you’d hand over the ancestral item!”
Zhao Feng shook his head. “Why didn’t you wait for me to return?”
Liu Dahua gave a bitter smile. “Zhao Feng, I know you have no money. County Chief Wang isn’t coming.”
“Oh?” Zhao Feng stroked his chin, intrigued. “Why isn’t County Chief Wang coming?”
“He…he…” Liu Dahua realized he’d said too much and quickly covered his mouth.
“Speak!” Zhao Feng commanded, his voice booming with the power of the Lion’s Roar technique.
Startled, Liu Dahua’s ears began to bleed. He shook his head, steadied himself, and stammered, “County Chief Wang has gone abroad for treatment!”
“Abroad for treatment?”
“Yes!”
Zhao Feng stroked his chin. “It’s that Xiang Tao who paid for it, isn’t it?”
“This…”
“Hmph! No need for you to say it—I already know!” Zhao Feng released his grip. Liu Dahua collapsed onto the ground.
Clapping his hands, Zhao Feng signaled. Xia Lin arrived, carrying a purple combination lock box.
Zhao Feng took the box and placed it before Liu Dahua. “There’s a million in here!”
Liu Dahua was instantly stunned, letting out a shriek. “Where did you get a million?”
“Hmph! Never mind how I got it. Check for yourself whether it’s a million!”
“Oh, oh! Fine!” Liu Dahua slowly opened the box, his eyes wide with shock. “It really is a million! Where did you get a million?”
Zhao Feng sneered. “That’s not your concern. Now, let’s settle this. How do you explain bringing people to wreck my home?”
Liu Dahua immediately grew nervous. “A misunderstanding! It’s all a misunderstanding!”
“A misunderstanding?” Zhao Feng asked.
Liu Dahua forced a bitter smile. “It really is a misunderstanding!”
“Hmph!” Zhao Feng crossed his arms and snorted coldly. “Then tell me, how do we resolve this?”
“This…this…” Tears welled up in Liu Dahua’s eyes. “Brother Zhao, whatever you say, I’ll do it! I’ll listen to you!”
Zhao Feng crouched down and patted Liu Dahua’s face. “We’ve dealt with each other before. You know what kind of person I am.”
“Mm, mm, mm!” Liu Dahua nodded frantically.
“How about this: I break one of your arms?”
“Please don’t!” Liu Dahua pleaded, his face miserable. “Brother Zhao, give me another condition!”
Zhao Feng’s expression darkened. “Didn’t you say you’d listen to me?”
Liu Dahua hurriedly begged, “Brother Zhao, please, another condition!”
“Hmph!” Zhao Feng kicked him, sending Liu Dahua tumbling again.
Yet Liu Dahua crawled back, clinging to Zhao Feng’s leg, sobbing.
“Please, Brother Zhao, give me another condition!”
Zhao Feng scoffed, but didn’t press him further.
He spoke, “How about this: Everything you broke in my house, I want you to replace it with identical items.”
Liu Dahua blinked. “That’s all?”
Zhao Feng sneered. “What else?”
Liu Dahua was moved to tears. “Alright, alright, I’ll arrange it right away. It’ll be delivered tomorrow—no, this afternoon!”
With that, Liu Dahua scrambled away.
“Stop!” Zhao Feng called.
Liu Dahua blinked. “What is it, Brother Zhao?”
“Take the money with you!”
“Oh, okay!” Liu Dahua grabbed the lock box and fled, his gang following in a hasty retreat.
The scene was instantly quiet.
After Liu Dahua and his men left, Zhao Feng rushed to his parents. “Dad, Mom, are you alright?”
They shook their heads. “We’re fine.”
“That’s good, that’s good!”
Just then, Xia Lin approached Zhao Feng. “You let them go just like that? I haven’t known you for long, but I can tell you’re not someone who lets things slide.”
“Hmph!” Zhao Feng grunted coldly. “If I wasn’t worried about my parents, I’d have made them pay today. But…”
“But what?” Xia Lin asked.
Zhao Feng slowly stood up. “But every debt has its origin. The one I want to deal with is Xiang Tao.”
“Xiang Tao?”
“That’s right.”
Xia Lin was surprised. “How did you get entangled with Xiang Tao?”
Zhao Feng frowned. “It’s not me who sought him out; he’s the one targeting me.”
“This…”
“Hmph!” With a cold snort, Zhao Feng turned and walked into the courtyard.
Now, only Xia Lin and Chen Ying remained.
Chen Ying stared at Xia Lin, making her uneasy.
Xia Lin touched her neck. “Friend, is there something wrong with me? Why do you keep staring?”
Chen Ying shook her head and answered evasively, “What’s your relationship with Zhao Feng?”
“Heh…heh heh…” Xia Lin gave an awkward laugh. “Zhao Feng and I are siblings.”
“Siblings?”
“Yes.”
“I never heard he had a sister,” Chen Ying frowned.
Xia Lin looked embarrassed. “And what’s your relationship with Zhao Feng?”
Chen Ying took a deep breath. “Zhao Feng and I are friends.”
“Oh~” Xia Lin responded softly, feeling relieved.
They were about to say more when Zhao Feng’s voice came from inside. “Don’t just stand outside, come in.”
“Oh, okay!”
“Alright!”
Xia Lin and Chen Ying headed inside.
Once things settled, that afternoon Xia Lin drove away. Peace returned to Zhao Feng’s family.
In the evening.
Zhao Feng returned to his room and took from his blue satchel a medicine cauldron the size of a fist.
He examined it—the cauldron had three legs and two handles, a round vessel.
Zhao Feng frowned. “How do I use this medicine cauldron? Maybe…”
“Maybe…”
“Maybe I’ll have to become a cultivator before I can use it.”
He shook his head, gazing at the cauldron, lost in thought. Time passed unknowingly; the moon was high in the sky before Zhao Feng snapped out of his trance.
“Perhaps I could try this method!”
Zhao Feng chuckled.
He bit his finger, slowly squeezing out a drop of fresh blood.
Then, slowly, slowly, he let the drop fall onto the medicine cauldron…
