Chapter 49: Do You Intend to Fob Me Off with This Trash?
Bad guy?
The moment he heard this term, Ron was utterly taken aback. He thought to himself that his would-be apprentice was truly bold, even reckless—how could she dare to call Shen Hanzhi a bad guy the moment he walked in?
Just as Ron was pondering how to smooth things over for Lin Nanxun, Shen Hanzhi strode purposefully toward them.
Those chilly, wintry eyes merely swept a cold glance over Ron before finally settling on Lin Nanxun, who sat before him.
On that striking, austere face, there was no trace of anger. As if, perhaps, he was thoroughly accustomed to such a title.
Ron found this rather surprising...
"Why haven’t you finished eating?" Shen Hanzhi’s gaze fell upon the remnants of breakfast on the desk. He frowned slightly and questioned her.
She was already malnourished, and had only just been discharged from the hospital. Now was precisely the time she needed nourishment the most.
But this girl was far too picky. Even the small portion of breakfast she’d been given was still mostly untouched.
Suddenly, being questioned so directly, Lin Nanxun paused, hanging her head guiltily and replying in a tiny voice, "I’m full..."
She was afraid the bad guy would scold her again and force her to finish everything.
Hearing this, Shen Hanzhi did not press further. Instead, he turned to Ron, who was still staring in shock, and asked coldly, "Is there something you need?"
Ron hastily handed over the drafts in his hands, explaining, "President Shen, these are designs I’ve put together for next year’s Mother’s Day series..."
Shen Hanzhi reached out and took the papers, his face expressionless as he flipped through them. Though he moved quickly, he didn’t skip a single page.
Once he finished, Shen Hanzhi’s brows knit tightly together. In the next moment, with a sharp smack, the designs were tossed onto the desk.
Shen Hanzhi looked at Ron with a severe expression, his tone icy as he demanded, "Do you really plan to fob me off with this trash?"
His demeanor was frigid, utterly merciless. He cared only for results.
It was obvious—this was the kind of ostentatious style that had been popular years ago, but had long since fallen out of favor in today’s jewelry industry.
Hearing such ruthless criticism, Lin Nanxun couldn’t help but look up at Shen Hanzhi in astonishment. That handsome face was now severe to the point of intimidation—far more daunting than when he’d threatened to throw her into the lake.
Ron, however, only sighed at the harsh words. "I knew it..." He wasn’t the least bit surprised.
In truth, he himself hadn’t been satisfied with the designs this time, but... he simply couldn’t pinpoint the problem.
He was a renowned jewelry designer, lauded by everyone around him. No one ever dared point out his flaws.
Of course, his designs were by no means inferior—at the very least, they could hold their own against any leading luxury jewelry brand on the market, even earning recognition internationally.
But Shen Hanzhi was not just anyone. He was a man so proud, he couldn’t tolerate a single imperfection.
When he’d agreed to return to China and join KS Jewelry, he’d known this all too well.
"Then come up with something better," Shen Hanzhi said, giving Ron a sidelong glance.
Ron only smiled, then turned to look at Lin Nanxun, suddenly exclaiming with delight, "In fact, I just thought of a better design a moment ago!"
He then said to Lin Nanxun, "Little one, show me what you were just drawing."
At these words, Shen Hanzhi’s brows drew together in a faint frown.
