Chapter 40: Stay Here and Take Care of Her
Aunt Xu smiled, then turned and went out to instruct the servants to bring over the bedding. Lin Nanxun obediently sat by the bed and waited.
...
In the car returning to the lakeside villa.
There was some traffic on the road. Shen Hanzhi glanced at the time on his watch and frowned.
Zhou Bei, who was holding the steering wheel, looked at Shen Hanzhi through the rearview mirror, then suddenly asked, “Boss, Lu Yuanchong has also been discharged from the hospital. Should we go to his place and get some medicine?”
The boss had previously gotten sleeping pills from Lu Yuanchong, but they had run out. Lately, he hadn’t been resting well; every time he visited Miss Lin in the hospital, he would take the chance to rest there.
Zhou Bei’s voice made Shen Hanzhi raise his eyes and glance at him, his expression thoughtful.
“No need,” he said, pressing his thin lips together, refusing.
He no longer needed such things.
Because... he had found a better way.
Thinking of this, a faint smile curved the man’s handsome lips.
Zhou Bei naturally didn’t notice Shen Hanzhi’s thoughts. Seeing him refuse, he didn’t press further, and simply focused on driving.
...
Before long, the car finally arrived and stopped at the villa entrance.
Shen Hanzhi got out and strode into the villa with his long legs.
“Sir.” A servant on the first floor greeted him politely.
Shen Hanzhi’s face was expressionless as he went straight upstairs, heading for the second floor.
Two servants carrying quilts and pillows were making their way down the corridor toward Lin Nanxun’s room. Just as they were about to enter, they noticed Shen Hanzhi approaching and paused.
“Sir...”
Shen Hanzhi stopped, looking at the quilts and pillows in their arms, his brows knitting in displeasure.
Changing bedding at this hour?
Noticing Shen Hanzhi’s expression, the servant hurried to explain, “Aunt Xu said she’s staying recently to accompany Miss Lin at night, so we’re adding an extra quilt.”
However, upon hearing Aunt Xu’s words, Shen Hanzhi’s face changed, his gaze darkening.
“Aunt Xu is staying?”
“Yes, Miss Lin said she’s afraid at night, so she asked Aunt Xu to stay with her,” the servant nodded.
Shen Hanzhi’s expression grew complicated.
Inside the room, Lin Nanxun and Aunt Xu had heard the voices outside.
Lin Nanxun immediately recognized Shen Hanzhi’s voice, hurriedly got off the bed, and ran to the door.
When she opened it, she saw Shen Hanzhi standing at the doorway, his face even more severe than usual.
“You’re back, you rascal!” she said happily, looking at him.
“Sir, you’re home.” Aunt Xu followed Lin Nanxun to the door, glanced at the servants, and then explained to Shen Hanzhi, “It’s like this: Miss Lin said she’s afraid at night, so I planned to stay here and look after her for a while. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
Normally, Aunt Xu managed all household affairs and Shen Hanzhi rarely intervened, but today she felt it best to inform him.
Aunt Xu’s question made Shen Hanzhi’s expression somewhat unnatural.
He glanced at Lin Nanxun, who was standing happily beside Aunt Xu, his gaze lingering.
The next moment, he pressed his lips together and said calmly, “No problem.”
With those words, he said nothing more, but turned and left in long strides.
