Chapter 21: Not Daring to Leave Even a Single Step
Seeing him leave, Lin Nanxun was stunned, her expression growing even more sorrowful, her heart filled with unbearable grief.
The villain doesn’t want her anymore…
“Why aren’t you coming?” At that moment, the man’s cold voice sounded from ahead.
As his words fell, Lin Nanxun paused for a few seconds. The sadness that had flooded her face moments before was suddenly replaced by a hint of joy.
She hurriedly wiped the tears from her face and ran after him.
…
On the road away from the villa, the previously quiet car was now somewhat restless.
Since getting in, Lin Nanxun had been staring with her large, bright eyes at Shen Hanzhi, who sat beside her in the back seat, gazing at his handsome profile.
After a long while, unable to suppress her worries, she finally spoke up.
“Villain, you truly won’t send me away?” Her eyes were filled with anxiety.
Her uncle had brought her here just like this that day and then abandoned her.
Her voice made Shen Hanzhi turn his head and glance at her sternly.
A trace of displeasure flashed across his handsome face.
This was the third time she’d asked him that question.
If it were anyone else who bothered him so persistently, he would have thrown them out of the car by now!
He had always hated people chattering in his ear, hated listening to nonsense, and hated answering nonsense even more!
But at this moment…
Shen Hanzhi’s gaze lingered on her eyes, still red from crying, his expression pausing and his brows furrowing.
The next second, enduring his irritation, he replied impatiently, “I won’t.”
Hearing his definite answer again, Lin Nanxun, who had been tense all along, finally relaxed a little.
“Boss, we’ve arrived,” the driver announced as the car gradually came to a stop.
Hearing this, Lin Nanxun curiously looked out the window.
She saw they had reached a bustling street and were now parked at the entrance of a hospital.
“Get out,” Shen Hanzhi said, glancing at Lin Nanxun before pushing open the door and stepping out.
Lin Nanxun nodded and followed, sticking close to him, not daring to stray even a single step.
…
In the VIP ward.
Shen Hanzhi brought Lin Nanxun and Zhou Bei to the door. Pushing it open, they saw a young man lying inside with a plaster cast on his leg, while a woman with exquisitely applied makeup sat beside him, feeding him fruit.
Shen Hanzhi didn’t knock; he simply entered.
The woman by the bed turned her head. When she saw Shen Hanzhi, she paused for two seconds, then quickly replaced her expression with a smile and asked the man on the bed, Lu Yuanchong, “Yuanchong, are these your friends?”
Yet her eyes, filled with delight, lingered on Shen Hanzhi.
Her direct gaze made Shen Hanzhi frown, his handsome face showing a touch of displeasure.
Zhou Bei hurried over to the bedside, his tone formal as he addressed the woman, “Miss, please step outside. We have matters to discuss with Mr. Lu.”
Zhou Bei’s words made the woman’s expression shift; only then did she tear her gaze from Shen Hanzhi and glance at Lu Yuanchong.
Lu Yuanchong, lying in bed, shrugged and kindly reminded her, “I suppose so, but I’d advise you to listen to them. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee what might happen.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the woman’s face changed slightly. She nodded.
“I’ll come see you next time,” she said, putting down the fruit, picking up her purse, and before leaving, casting Shen Hanzhi another glance.
