Chapter 17: She Is So Noisy

After he finished speaking, Lin Nanxun was startled by his stern tone, her eyes blinking in confusion, her expression both aggrieved and bewildered, as if silently asking him—then what should she call him?

He was always meticulous in his thoughts, and her innocent expression was transparent to him at a glance.

“My name is Shen Hanzhi,” he said quietly, his lips moving slightly.

Shen Hanzhi?

After she heard the name, Lin Nanxun nodded first, and then a warm smile appeared on her face. She spoke with a hint of delight, “Then I’ll call you Zhi Zhi…”

Her words made Shen Hanzhi’s expression darken immediately.

Zhi Zhi?

“No,” he rejected her flatly, his face stern.

“Why not?” She looked at him in confusion, then continued, “My grandma and grandpa call me Nan Nan…”

If her grandparents could call her Nan Nan, why couldn’t she call him Zhi Zhi?

Her endless questions made Shen Hanzhi’s patience begin to fray.

“There’s no reason,” he replied, his tone growing impatient.

“But I want to know…” Lin Nanxun, oblivious to his irritation, pressed on with curiosity.

Faced with her incessant questioning, Shen Hanzhi was no longer willing to answer. He picked up his phone again, his lips pressed into a thin line. “I’ll have the housekeeper come over right away.”

The moment she heard he was calling a servant, Lin Nanxun’s expression changed. She shook her head anxiously. “I don’t want to know anymore.”

With that, she hurriedly pulled the covers over herself, obediently lying down. Fearing she would be sent away, she squeezed her eyes shut immediately. “I’m going to sleep.”

Shen Hanzhi stood by the bed, looking at the woman whose every thought was plain on her face. For a moment, his handsome features betrayed a trace of amusement.

After a while, he put down his phone and got into bed.

He had barely lain down when he felt her slender body cautiously inch closer. Soon after, he sensed her gently grasping the edge of his bathrobe, just as she had the previous night.

Shen Hanzhi’s eyes darkened.

“Meanie, can I stop eating meat from now on?” Suddenly, her persistent voice sounded in his ear.

After what happened last night, the sense of security he gave her made her start to rely on him. As long as he wasn’t angry, she wasn’t afraid, so she had grown much bolder.

“No.” His answer was cold.

Disappointed by his refusal, she sighed softly, but soon her curiosity rose again. “Where’s your family? Why don’t they live with you?” She gazed in fascination at his striking profile.

She had always had her grandparents, and later her uncle, by her side. How was it that he had no family with him?

This “meanie” seemed even lonelier than she was.

After her words fell, the man’s expression grew colder.

Then, in the same severe tone as always, he spoke again. “No talking when you’re supposed to be sleeping.”

Lin Nanxun nodded obediently. “Okay…”

The bedroom fell quiet, with only the sound of wind and rain outside.

After a long while, still unable to sleep, Lin Nanxun couldn’t help but speak again. “Meanie…”

Before she could voice her question, the man’s stern voice cut through the silence, interrupting her next words.

“Be quiet!” She was too noisy.
