Chapter 147: That Man’s Background is So Extraordinary
"I'm sorry, I think there must have been some misunderstanding..."
Ye Ning apologized, though she felt bewildered. Had she remembered incorrectly? Was the "bad guy" Nan Xun spoke of not this man standing before them?
"They are all men under Luo En's command; there's no need to be so tense," Zhou Bei said as he walked over and glanced at the bodyguard.
Hearing this, the bodyguard turned and retreated.
"You should all go into the hotel and rest. Everything here is at your disposal, free of charge. My boss and I have matters to attend to, so we won't be able to keep you company," Zhou Bei said, looking at Ye Ning and the others.
"We will manage just fine. Please go ahead with your work, Mr. Shen," Luo En said, offering Zhou Bei a polite smile.
Zhou Bei nodded in acknowledgment. He checked the time, then stepped to Shen Hanzhi's side and said in a low voice, "Boss, Mr. Cheng is arriving soon. Shall we head back to the tea restaurant?"
"Yes." Shen Hanzhi nodded. His gaze instinctively swept toward Lin Nan Xun, who was currently surrounded by her studio colleagues. He pressed his thin lips together, said nothing further, and turned to leave.
Once Shen Hanzhi and his men had all departed, Xu Lili, who had been too afraid to make a sound earlier, finally couldn't help but pull Ye Ning aside to scold her.
"Ye Ning, are you out of your mind? How could you dare speak to Mr. Shen like that?"
She had been terrified; Ye Ning had actually dared to call Mr. Shen a "bad guy" in public! It was a miracle the bodyguard hadn't thrown her out right then and there.
"That was Mr. Shen?" A look of shock appeared on Ye Ning's face. Was that man the legendary boss?
"Yes, didn't you see him at the press conference last time?" Xu Lili asked, nodding.
"I was busy comforting Nan Xun, so I missed it," Ye Ning replied, shaking her head. She hadn't realized the man held such status.
"You'd better learn your lesson for next time. Don't offend him again, or life will be very difficult for you," Xu Lili sighed, offering earnest advice.
"Oh, I know, I know. It won't happen again," Ye Ning said helplessly. She took Lin Nan Xun's arm and asked eagerly, "Nan Xun, you got here before us. Tell us, what fun things are there to do here?"
Lin Nan Xun thought about it seriously, recalling what Zhou Bei had told her earlier and combining it with what she had seen herself.
"There's a restaurant, a playground, and lots of fun things inside." She paused, then added, "Oh, and... a haunted house." Although the place scared her, it was one of the few spots Zhou Bei had mentioned to her, so she reported it truthfully.
"A haunted house?" Upon hearing this, Wang Cheng and Xiao Qi from the studio became interested.
"I seem to remember reading in the news that the largest haunted house in Z City was being built. I wonder if this is it," Wang Cheng mused.
"Sounds interesting. Why don't we go check it out?" Xiao Qi said, her face lighting up with excitement.
Hearing them mention the haunted house, Lin Nan Xun's expression shifted, and she shook her head frantically. "No, I'm not going..." She turned to look for the "bad guy," only to realize he was already gone.
He must have gone back to his work.
"Ahem. The purpose of this trip, besides relaxation, is to build rapport and team spirit among colleagues, not to scare them," Luo En interjected, clearing his throat and speaking with a serious tone.
