Chapter 143: Mood Instantly Plummeted
"Big sister, let's just say I won this time," the little boy said, flashing a bright smile at Lin Nanxun.
Lin Nanxun was taken aback.
The middle-aged man nearby, having witnessed this scene, also looked surprised. He walked over and beckoned to the little boy. "Weian, it’s time for us to go."
Hearing his voice, the little boy released Lin Nanxun’s hand, hopped down from the chair, and gave her one last look of reluctance before saying, "Goodbye, big sister. I have to go home now, but I’ll play with you again next time, and I’ll definitely win."
"Okay, goodbye," Lin Nanxun nodded with a gentle smile.
The little boy then followed the middle-aged man away.
Once they had left, Shen Hanzhi walked over, his expression grave. His gaze fell upon the hand she still had resting on the table, and his brows furrowed tightly.
"Bad guy, are you done with your business?" Seeing him approach, Lin Nanxun looked up, her face lighting up with joy.
"Yes." Shen Hanzhi pressed his thin lips together and gave a curt reply, his handsome face looking stern.
Seeing Shen Hanzhi arrive, Zhou Bei, who had been on the ground floor the whole time, couldn't help but interject. "Boss, Miss Lin is truly amazing. The child Mr. Sun brought was throwing a huge tantrum earlier, but Miss Lin managed to soothe him."
Earlier, when Mr. Sun had gone upstairs to discuss business with the boss, he had left his child here. The boy had been inconsolable until Miss Lin came up with the idea of playing a simple, engaging card game, which finally settled him down.
As soon as Zhou Bei finished speaking, Shen Hanzhi’s expression shifted, his brows darkening with a hint of irritation. He stared down at her for a moment, then finally asked in a low, displeased voice, "Why didn't you dodge earlier?"
Did she really not know how to pull away when that brat of Sun Yi's tried to kiss her?
The man's sudden, sharp tone startled Lin Nanxun. She pondered his words for a moment before realizing what he was referring to.
"But he didn't hurt me, so why would I need to dodge?" Her clean, innocent face was filled with confusion and bewilderment. When the child had leaned in earlier, he had only kissed his own finger; she couldn't fathom why she should have moved.
"..." Seeing her look of pure, naive confusion only made Shen Hanzhi’s expression grow darker. The thought of her complete lack of awareness regarding boundaries between the sexes triggered a wave of involuntary frustration, plunging his mood into the depths.
"Bad guy..." Sensing his darkening mood, Lin Nanxun realized something was wrong and reached out, anxiously grabbing the hand he had hanging at his side.
Her fingers clasping his hand caused Shen Hanzhi’s expression to soften slightly. He maintained his stern demeanor and taught her seriously, "You are not to let anyone hold your hand like that again." His eyes deepened as he added, "And that goes for anywhere else, too."
"Don't be angry, bad guy. I understand now..." Lin Nanxun nodded quickly, promising obediently.
Seeing her agree, Shen Hanzhi’s complexion improved slightly. Finally, he parted his thin lips and explained expressionlessly, "I'm not angry." He was merely feeling irritable, not angry.
"That's good then." Hearing this, Lin Nanxun looked relieved and let go of his hand.
Shen Hanzhi glanced down at her, then suddenly turned and strode toward a certain corner of the tea restaurant.
"Come here."
