Chapter 122: What About Mine?
Just as everyone was happily savoring the chocolates given to them by Lin Nanxun...
Shen Hanzhi’s handsome face wore a rather unpleasant expression. He furrowed his brows, staring at the small piece of chocolate in the hand of Zhou Bei, who stood beside him. His face was filled with visible displeasure.
Was he the only one left out? She had even given some to Zhou Bei.
Zhou Bei stared at the chocolate in his hand. Although he wasn't particularly fond of sweets, since Miss Lin had offered it with such sincerity, he felt he naturally ought to taste it. However, before he could even open his mouth, he sensed a gaze... laced with a faint chill.
He turned his head instinctively, and upon seeing the expression on Shen Hanzhi's face, he was startled.
"Boss... would you like this?" Zhou Bei asked, innocently offering his chocolate to Shen Hanzhi.
Shen Hanzhi lowered his gaze to the chocolate in Zhou Bei's hand, his eyes turning cold. A second later, he looked away with disdain, ignoring Zhou Bei entirely, and fixed his gaze instead on the young girl who had just finished distributing the treats and was now clutching the chocolate box, watching everyone eat with a joyful expression.
Utterly bewildered, Zhou Bei had no choice but to pop the chocolate into his own mouth.
Shen Hanzhi watched Lin Nanxun for a moment, and seeing that she still hadn't thought to offer him any, he finally couldn't hold back. His Adam's apple bobbed as he spoke.
"What about mine?" He frowned at her, his handsome face tinged with a look of unnatural discomfort.
This was the first time he had ever taken the initiative to ask someone for something, and worse—it was food. Even in his childhood, he had never stooped to such a humiliating act.
As Shen Hanzhi’s voice rang out, Lin Nanxun froze. She turned to see the "bad guy" looking at her with a stern expression. She doubted her own ears for a moment. She had assumed the bad guy didn't want anything from her anymore, especially since he had been so displeased and had told her to leave when she brought him milk tea earlier that evening.
"Oh my, Miss Lin, how could you have forgotten the master?" Aunt Xu remarked, suddenly realizing the situation.
Lin Nanxun stared at him for a few seconds, then looked down at the remaining chocolates in the box. She took one out, walked over to him, and handed it to him. Her lovely little face wore a cautious expression, the smile she had held earlier now faded.
Is she still upset about what happened this afternoon?
Shen Hanzhi’s gaze faltered. After a moment, he reached out, took the chocolate she offered, and popped it into his mouth with an expressionless face.
A faint bitterness was followed by an incomparable sweetness—a sweetness that was not cloying... much like her usual smile.
Shen Hanzhi stared at her, lost in thought. After giving him the chocolate, Lin Nanxun lowered her head, carefully tucked away the remaining chocolates, closed the lid, and was led upstairs by Aunt Xu to bathe.
...
After Lin Nanxun left, Zhou Bei approached Shen Hanzhi after receiving two text messages.
"Boss, the media is already aware of what happened tonight. It will likely hit all the major newspapers and news websites tomorrow... Should I intervene?"
If the scandal Qiao Yufei orchestrated were to be exposed, her career, which was already limited and relied entirely on gossip and a manufactured persona, would be ruined for good. Although he didn't like Qiao Yufei either, the incident had occurred at KS; if the news spread too far, he feared it might have a negative impact on the brand.
Upon hearing Zhou Bei's words, Shen Hanzhi finally withdrew his gaze. He glanced at Zhou Bei, pressed his lips together, and gave his instructions.
