Lu Beiqin’s gaze darkened, instantly understanding the situation. His pitch-black eyes radiated a murderous coldness. “Don’t be afraid, I’ll take you to the hospital right away!”

Shen Chutang clung tightly to his sleeve, shaking her head. “I have an antidote in my pocket.”

Feeling miserable, Shen Chutang rested her head against Lu Beiqin’s body. There was a pleasant scent about him, drawing her irresistibly closer.

Lu Beiqin immediately opened her small pouch at her waist. Inside, the medicines were packed in tiny plastic bags, each marked with a different color.

“Which one is it?”

Shen Chutang felt increasingly uncomfortable, her body trembling in waves. She buried her head in Lu Beiqin’s embrace, letting out a faint whimper.

The sweet fragrance emanating from the girl, coupled with the warmth in his arms, made Lu Beiqin swallow involuntarily, his deep eyes growing ever darker and more intimidating.

He coaxed her softly, “Tangtang, which one is the antidote?”

Shen Chutang finally regained a bit of clarity. “The blue one…”

Lu Beiqin immediately tore open the blue packet and fed her the medicine inside.

The antidote quickly took effect; the heat tormenting Shen Chutang eased, and sensation gradually returned to her limbs.

She opened her eyes, rose from Lu Beiqin’s arms, and walked toward the car.

The driver, whom she had immobilized with a silver needle, was still slumped over the vehicle. She yanked him out, removed the needle, and aimed it at his eyeball. “Tell me, who gave you the nerve to do this?”

The driver, already frightened when he couldn’t move, now trembled even more. “At the mall entrance, two girls and a guy gave me money and told me to take those pictures of you. I was just following orders—it’s not my fault!”

Shen Chutang asked coldly, “How did you send the photos to them?”

The driver immediately produced his phone. “They told me to send them to this account!”

Shen Chutang glanced at it, took the phone, and quickly manipulated it. Soon, a composite photo bearing her face was sent out.

After the photo was sent, the other side transferred the remaining payment. Shen Chutang calmly accepted it, then blocked their account, perfectly imitating a black market driver after completing a transaction.

The mall, two girls and a guy—it didn’t take much guessing to know it was Shen Tingting and her friends!

They had suffered a setback at the mall and resorted to such despicable tactics!

Shen Chutang tossed the phone aside, landed a hard punch on the driver, knocking him out, then turned to Lu Beiqin. “Let’s go back.”

Lu Beiqin nodded. “How are you feeling?”

Thinking back to her earlier state, Shen Chutang felt a bit embarrassed. “I’m fine now.”

“What exactly happened?”

“It was Shen Tingting. After she was kicked out of the mall, she seized the chance to retaliate. But I suspect this isn’t the extent of their schemes. Since she wanted the driver to take indecent photos of me, I gave her what she wanted. I’m curious to see what tricks she’ll pull in the end!”

“If you need help, just call me.”

“Alright.” Shen Chutang realized this was probably Lu Beiqin’s first encounter with such a situation and explained, “Shen Tingting is my sister, but she’s never treated me as family. This is between her and me, and I’ll handle it. Don’t worry—I won’t let myself suffer.”

Lu Beiqin nodded. “Get in the car.”

Once Shen Chutang was inside, Lu Beiqin spoke. “I need a smoke.”

Shen Chutang didn’t object. Lu Beiqin stood outside the car, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it, his cold, sharp gaze sweeping over the two nearby vehicles and the people sprawled on the ground.

He took out his phone, dialed a number, and after giving the address, said, “I don’t want to see any of them ever again.”

After hanging up, Lu Beiqin glanced at the girl sitting in the passenger seat. Her long hair was a bit disheveled, revealing a slender, pale neck when she tucked it aside.

He wouldn’t forget Shen Chutang’s state just now—if he had arrived any later, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

After extinguishing his cigarette, Lu Beiqin stood for a while longer. Only when the smoke had dissipated did he get into the car.

Once home, Lu Beiqin suggested Shen Chutang rest for a bit.

Shen Chutang wanted to say she was fine, but having just ridden in the black market driver’s car left her feeling uneasy, so she decided to take a shower.

The next day, when Shen Chutang arrived at the affiliated school, she saw many people pointing at her and whispering.

She paid them no mind and walked straight to the office. Just as she reached the stairway, she ran into Shen Tingting, Qian Zihan, and the others.

“Oh, you still have the nerve to come to work? If I were you, I’d be hiding in my room, never coming out.” Shen Tingting wore a look of malicious glee, obviously assuming the black market drivers had succeeded yesterday.

Shen Chutang glanced at her. “Is there something you need?”

Shen Tingting sneered, “Still so stubborn, Shen Chutang. Everyone knows about your dirty deeds now. How can you still have the face to be a teacher here? You really are shameless—after something like that, you can pretend nothing happened. Or maybe that’s just who you are?”
