Shen Chutang settled the bill, thinking that the motivational talk she gave these little troublemakers today was just about enough. Yet, despite all the pep talks, the nickname “Boss” stubbornly stuck and soon spread among the students like wildfire.

That afternoon, after grading the test papers in her office, Shen Chutang listed out every student’s weak points. The road ahead was long and arduous. Looking at their scores, she felt even her toes could have written answers scoring higher.

Taking advantage of their sports class, Shen Chutang called a meeting with the subject teachers, determined to start patching up the gaps immediately.

The affiliated school was renowned, and its teachers were naturally exceptional. The math teacher had just returned from class, eyes alight with excitement. “You know, when I went in to teach, they actually greeted me politely! No one caused trouble all period, and when a student fell asleep, Luo Shencheng woke him up and made him pay attention!”

The Chinese teacher marveled, “It’s a miracle!”

The math teacher nodded. “All thanks to Teacher Shen!”

Shen Chutang handed over the students’ test papers to her colleagues. “I’ll leave the rest to you.”

Rarely did students show a willingness to learn, and the teachers were so delighted they immediately began drafting teaching plans.

When school was finally over, Shen Chutang was just about to catch a ride home. As she stepped out the school gate, she spotted a taxi parked nearby.

Next to the car stood a strikingly handsome driver, dressed in a black shirt and tailored trousers, tall and elegant, with sharp eyebrows and fine features.

Lu Beiqin held a cigarette between his fingers, white smoke curling around his cold, handsome face. His whole demeanor was casual and relaxed, yet the innate, powerful aura he exuded made even his slightly disheveled appearance oddly captivating.

Many girls passing by couldn’t help but steal glances at this taxi driver, some bold enough to approach in hopes of a ride. But Lu Beiqin ignored them all.

Finally, Lu Beiqin caught sight of Shen Chutang, and in the next moment, crushed out his cigarette. “I’m here to take you home.”

In that instant, Shen Chutang felt her heart skip uncontrollably. “Alright.”

Once in the car, she instinctively asked, “Why did you suddenly come to pick me up?”

“To celebrate your becoming a teacher,” he replied, turning to look at her.

One second, two seconds...

Shen Chutang felt uneasy under his gaze. “Why are you staring at me?”

Lu Beiqin suddenly leaned closer, his face magnified before her eyes. She could even catch a faint scent of cool wood from him. Shen Chutang instinctively held her breath, eyes wide, flustered and anxious. “What—what are you doing?”

Click—the seatbelt was fastened.

The girl’s reaction was so adorable that Lu Beiqin looked at her and asked, “What do you think I’m doing?”

Shen Chutang’s heart, which had nearly stopped, now beat wildly. “N-nothing.”

A barely noticeable smile tugged at Lu Beiqin’s lips as he pressed down on the accelerator.

But Shen Chutang soon realized he wasn’t taking the route home.

“Where are we going?”

“To eat.”

Shen Chutang couldn’t help but laugh. “I wonder when my dear husband will be less sparing with his words and say a few more, so I don’t have to guess.”

Lu Beiqin gave her a meaningful look, his deep eyes making her feel slightly guilty. “I’m just joking.”

Unexpectedly, Lu Beiqin explained, “I checked, this restaurant has great reviews. I wanted to celebrate with you.”

His rare willingness to explain surprised Shen Chutang.

Soon, they arrived at an upscale private restaurant, a place Shen Chutang had never visited before.

A waiter stood at the entrance, smiling as he asked, “Do you have a reservation?”

Unsure, Shen Chutang gave Lu Beiqin’s name.

The waiter checked. “Sorry, ma’am, we don’t have Mr. Lu’s name in our reservation list. Did you perhaps book under another name?”

Shen Chutang hadn’t expected reservations were required just to dine here. “Is it possible without a reservation?”

Barely had she finished speaking when a woman’s mocking laughter sounded behind her.

Shen Chutang turned to see Shen Tingting, arm in arm with Liu Shuhua, standing right behind her.

“This is the most exclusive private restaurant in the capital. Without booking half a year in advance, it’s impossible to get a table. Honestly, how foolish—thinking you can just show up and reserve a spot on the day. Who do you think you are?”

Shen Tingting, having suffered grievances today, shot Shen Chutang a look as sharp as a blade, as if she wished to tear her apart right then and there.

The waiter, hearing this, replied respectfully, “This young lady is correct. All our tables must be reserved six months in advance.”
