Shen Chutang looked up in a daze. The two of them were standing very close, and she instinctively wanted to step back, but her chin was grasped, leaving her momentarily frozen.
Lu Beiqin’s gaze lingered on her lips, flushed a vibrant red from the heat, his look deep and restrained.
He hadn’t realized he was gripping too tightly until Shen Chutang instinctively cried out in pain, prompting him to snap back to reality and quickly release his hold.
“Sorry.”
Knowing he was worried about her, Shen Chutang shook her head generously. “It’s okay.”
The earlier awkwardness finally eased with this small incident. Both hid their true thoughts, neither exposing the other.
After breakfast, Shen Chutang tossed some trash into the bin, only to find that her large bag, which she had been carrying while grocery shopping, was leaking a yellowish liquid. She realized she had forgotten to remove some oranges bought earlier; one had been crushed during the ride.
She hurried to clean it up. Though the stain was gone, the bag still felt sticky. She was reluctant to keep it.
She had bought this bag for 30,000 yuan because of its large capacity and had used it for a long time. Now that it was dirty, she decided to sell it online at a half-price bargain, explaining the condition and setting the price at 500 yuan.
She was ready to negotiate if anyone bargained, but the bag was snapped up almost immediately by a local buyer, allowing for convenient same-city delivery, so she generously covered the shipping fee.
With everything settled, Shen Chutang set off for school.
The acupuncture incident had made her famous throughout the school. Somehow, all the students heard that her specially brewed tea was even praised by doctors. After class, a long queue formed at the cafeteria’s special tea window.
Shen Chutang, however, remained indifferent, attending classes and skipping school when she had none.
Homeroom teachers of other classes envied her rebelliousness in the senior year, while they themselves dared not stray an inch for fear their students might cause trouble.

Yet the students of Class Z made everyone look at them anew!
Initially, the biggest worry among teachers at the affiliated high school was that Class Z would cause disruptions or bully others, but lately, it was the students from other classes who had been acting out.
Now, whenever teachers passed by Class Z’s door, they felt ashamed. The once rowdiest and most troublesome students were all diligently writing notes. Even when two students from Class Z walked down the hallway, their conversation focused not on where to play after class, but on different solutions to a math problem.
Back in the office, teachers often saw Class Z students coming by to ask subject teachers about homework without any oversight from homeroom teachers.
“You have to admit, Teacher Shen really knows her stuff. The students have settled down so quickly, and they actually love studying!”
“Yeah, I used to think these kids wouldn’t amount to much, but it’s amazing what a little time and change can do.”
Nearby, Zhu Yongmei sneered.
In the last exam, Class Z’s average score was 20 points lower than Class Y’s, not to mention the huge gap with Class F. It was a world of difference.
Pretending to study hard before the college entrance exam was futile.
Underachievers would always remain underachievers!
Time flew by to Saturday. Shen Chutang couldn’t sleep, so she got up early to take out the vegetables she bought last time.
Fortunately, she had been preserving them well, and not much had gone bad.
She trimmed off the inedible parts, washed them clean, and sorted everything. Half the day slipped by.
Next, she blanched the vegetables, packed them neatly in large containers, and prepared her secret seasoning.

After finishing everything, Shen Chutang calculated Lu Beiqin’s off-duty time. It was still early, so she took a shower first.
Wrapped in a towel and with her hair wrapped in another, she entered the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water.
Downing it in one gulp, she felt refreshed!
The package she ordered yesterday had arrived—it was her new nail polish. She picked a favorite shade and sat on the sofa, carefully painting her toenails.
When Lu Beiqin returned home, this was the scene before him.
Shen Chutang, wrapped in a white towel, looked like a little white rabbit, one leg curled up on a stool as she painted her toenails.
Her legs were pale and slender, her ankle delicate enough to be encircled by a single palm.
The towel barely covered her thighs, and as she moved, it slipped slightly at an unmentionable spot, causing Lu Beiqin’s eyes to darken instantly.
Had it been anyone else, Lu Beiqin would have suspected it was intentional, but this was Shen Chutang, leaving him with a strange feeling in his heart.
Clearing his throat, he said, “I’m home.”
