Chapter 111: The Other Party Is Not Lu Beiqin
A group of students followed Wei Dingshui and Chen Zhong, their eyes filled with envy. However, these two professors had only come as a favor to Shen Chutang; what right did the students have to ask for their tutelage?
"Do you think it's possible to ask the professors to move to a larger lecture hall so we students could sit in the back and listen? No matter what they’re teaching, as long as the kids can audit the class?"
"But after how we treated Teacher Shen earlier, why would she ever agree to that?"
"Teacher Shen is humble and reserved, yet she was slandered so cruelly. If it were me, I’d be furious too!"
Hearing these murmurs, Mrs. Qian felt the gazes landing on her like needles.
Shen Chutang curled her lips and looked at the principal. "I’m sorry, Principal, but the alumni speeches are still ongoing. Besides, the two professors only have set times for their lectures, so there’s nothing I can do."
The alumni present were equally shocked to see the two professors and naturally made no secret of their excitement. Soon, Li Qiteng took the stage, expressing high expectations for the affiliated high school, especially for the students in Class Z. The parents of Class Z students beamed with pride; it had been a long time since they had enjoyed the envious looks of others. Today, these children had truly brought honor to their families.
After the anniversary celebration ended, the teachers' attitudes toward Shen Chutang shifted dramatically, all of them hoping to audit her classes so they could pass the knowledge on to their own students. Shen Chutang, however, was in no rush and left early, claiming she felt unwell. The teachers collectively assumed this was due to the groundless accusations made by the parents of Class A, and even the homeroom teacher of Class A stomped her feet in regret. Had she known, she wouldn't have indulged them in causing a scene, and things wouldn't have turned out this way.
The celebration over, Shen Chutang returned home in a fairly good mood. Lu Beiqin had not yet returned, so she gathered her change of clothes and headed to the bathroom, only to discover that the water had been shut off.
The last time the bathroom plumbing had issues, Lu Beiqin had fixed it, but with him not home, Shen Chutang had no way to resolve the problem. She took her clothes to the bathroom in the living room and washed up quickly. No sooner had she finished than the lights went out. *You have to be kidding me? No water and no electricity?*
Wrapped in a bath towel, Shen Chutang opened the bathroom door in the dark. At this hour, it was already pitch black outside, and inside, it was so dark she couldn't see her own hand in front of her face. She groped her way forward cautiously; this was the living room, but her phone was in the bedroom.
Suddenly, she heard a noise in the living room. Someone was there!
"Who's there?" No one answered. It wasn't Lu Beiqin.
Shen Chutang’s gaze turned cold. Her gear was all in the bedroom, and she was currently unarmed. Unsure of how many intruders there were, she had to proceed with extreme caution. The problem was, she didn't know where they were. She crouched down slightly, feeling her way forward.
Suddenly, a light flickered on nearby—someone had turned on a phone! Shen Chutang immediately pinpointed their location and lunged at them, deciding that the best defense was a good offense.
Lu Beiqin had just returned to find the house in darkness. A quick look outside confirmed the neighborhood was blacked out as well; it must have been a widespread power outage. He pulled out his phone, intending to turn on the flashlight, when he suddenly felt a gust of wind flash behind him.
His keen reflexes, honed by years of training in dangerous environments, kicked in instantly. Lu Beiqin dodged the hand strike and grabbed the attacker's arm. The arm in his palm was delicate and soft—it was a woman’s hand.
Shen Chutang was stunned by the intruder's speed; he had caught her hand in an instant. She tried to pull away and struck toward his pressure points, but he evaded her again! Who on earth had sent this person? Their skills were incredible! Shen Chutang cursed that she didn't have her medicinal powders on her; otherwise, she would have covered him in itching powder until he regretted his existence.
Her moves were parried one by one. She lunged forward, aiming a kick at his vital point. The woman in front of him was no amateur. By now, his eyes had adjusted slightly to the darkness, and he could make out her silhouette. Seeing her raise her leg for another strike, Lu Beiqin reached out, grabbed her arm, and tossed her over his shoulder!
Shen Chutang: "!!!"
Luckily, she landed on the sofa, so it didn't hurt much, but the fall left her dazed. Before she could rise, a tall figure pinned her down. One hand clamped onto her throat, while the other easily captured both her wrists and held them above her head.
Shen Chutang struggled, furious. How could his skills be this good? He was even better than her senior apprentice brother!
The next second, the lights in the room flickered on. Shen Chutang squinted, blinded by the sudden glare.
