087 Strange Twin Mutants!
Ten minutes earlier.
Xue Feng was driving his car, circling the streets near Tiancheng Community.
“Brother Xue Feng, your trick is brilliant! You’re deliberately attracting zombies behind us, then you’ll storm in with them, right?” Tang Qiqiang, sitting in the passenger seat, was visibly excited.
He kept glancing at the rearview mirror. A horde of zombies had gathered behind them.
As expected from Xue Feng! He actually came up with this idea.
“Heh, something like that. But the zombies I’m attracting aren’t the usual kind—I’m looking for the big ones,” Xue Feng replied.
He had actually learned this tactic from a group of unruly youths: first, use the noise of the armored vehicle to lure zombies over, then break through the main gate of Tiancheng Community in one fell swoop, drawing all the zombies inside.
But Xue Feng’s attention was not on the ordinary zombies trailing behind. What he sought were the two third-tier mutants noted in the intelligence reports nearby.
If he could lure both third-tier mutants into Tiancheng Community, it would spell disaster for the Red Flower Society.
“The big ones? Mutants?” Tang Qiqiang’s expression turned grave. He was clearly wary of mutants, perhaps having suffered at their hands before.
In many films and dramas, zombies’ bodies deteriorate step by step, growing so frail that they might stumble and fall, their heads dropping off, posing no threat to humans.
Yet, now that zombies had truly appeared, the situation was entirely different. Zombies seemed to be evolving bit by bit.
The speed and strength of ordinary zombies had greatly improved compared to before. Tang Qiqiang speculated it had something to do with the crystal cores inside their brains.
Those crystal cores must be fueling their evolution.
Moreover, the probability of finding crystal cores in zombies’ heads was increasing. It seemed that, over time, every zombie would develop a crystal core.
Tang Qiqiang shared his findings with Xue Feng.
“Crystal cores are important. Do you collect them regularly?” Xue Feng hadn’t expected Tang Qiqiang to notice this, but on second thought, it was not surprising. If Liu Jun had discovered it, so could Tang Qiqiang. Perhaps the matter of crystal cores was no longer a secret.
“We’ve collected some, but don’t know what they’re for. If you need them, Brother Xue Feng, you can have them all!” Tang Qiqiang spoke without hesitation.
Meanwhile, the group in the back seats wanted to say something—after all, they had gathered hundreds of crystal cores. If these things were truly valuable, how could they just give them away? But among those present, they always followed Tang Qiqiang’s lead. Since he’d made the decision, they wouldn’t object.
“Alright, you may take some weapons from the car,” Xue Feng nodded, gladly accepting. Crystal cores were never too few; in his hands, they could be used as energy sources.
Now, the base even had generators powered by crystal cores, making them an essential source of energy.
“What’s that!”
At that moment, someone in the back seat pointed, crying out in terror.
Xue Feng looked where they indicated.
It was an extraordinarily bizarre zombie, towering over five meters tall, resembling an ogre from Western mythology. Its body was covered in green, hardened skin and bulging lumps, repulsive to behold.
What shocked them even more was that the zombie’s upper torso had split into two heads and four arms—one head facing forward, the other backward. Both faces were grotesque, huge fangs dripping green liquid.
Whenever the liquid hit the road, it instantly corroded a giant pit.
[Ding!]

[Jumping ability enhanced. You now feel light as a feather.]
[Current Host Attribute Panel:]

Endurance: 50
Luck: 38 (+100)
Abilities: Divine Sky (Tier 2, Level 3), Stone Skin (Tier 2, Level 1), Seasonal (Tier 2, Level 1)
Xue Feng was momentarily stunned, not expecting a special reward once an attribute surpassed fifty.
This was the human limit, then. He really did feel more nimble.
Previously, each increase had been by one or two points, and he hadn’t noticed much difference in his body. It seemed the attributes would keep rising—he wondered what benefits future enhancements might bring.
But what truly startled Xue Feng was the successful validation of his intelligence.
That meant the green monstrosity before him wasn’t a simple third-tier mutant, but two mutants fused together.
He had no idea why this had happened.
But it meant that defeating this mutant would be several times harder.
Still, this wasn’t Xue Feng’s problem for now—his priority was to lure this creature into Tiancheng Community.
Beep beep beep!
“Let’s go—let the Red Flower Society see this big guy!” Xue Feng grinned.
He pressed the horn hard, and sure enough, the green monster twisted its head and looked their way.
“We’re really bringing this thing over?” Even Tang Qiqiang’s face paled. This was no joke. If it caught up, they’d be crushed to death.
Sure enough, the green mutant was enraged, stomping toward them.
Thud, thud, thud!
Even inside the armored car, Tang Qiqiang could feel the ground trembling faintly.
Xue Feng floored the accelerator, making a sharp turn straight to Tiancheng Community’s main entrance.
The entrance was barricaded with vehicles and sandbags, leaving only one passage. Normally, they’d move the iron gate to exit, but nothing could block Xue Feng’s armored vehicle.
The steel beast roared, smashing through the cars blocking the entrance.
“Someone’s breaking in!”
“Take him down! How arrogant!”
“What’s that behind—it's a monster!”
The loud crash drew the guards at the gate, who began firing at the armored car.
But they quickly realized an even more terrifying giant was following behind.
This was the true monster.
In the chaos, some shot at the armored car, others at the creature.
Gunfire erupted in all directions.
When Jin Changming arrived with his men, he saw the enormous green monster already rampaging through the community.
Its front and back arms and heads each seized a Red Flower Society member, shoving them straight into its mouths.
Crunch, crunch!
Amid screams, the monster’s two heads violently chewed and swallowed two living people.
“Damn it, what is that thing!”
Even Jin Changming could no longer remain calm, fear overtaking his eyes.
