Chapter 123: The Helicopter Crash

Doctor Yang was different. Every one of his fingers had already been snapped, twisted like strands of dough.

“Heh. So even a lunatic can feel pain,” Xue Feng sneered.

The next moment, Xue Feng twisted both of Doctor Yang’s hands out of shape. His palms bent at grotesque angles, pressed against his forearms, because all the bones inside them had been crushed to powder.

The sight alone was enough to make anyone’s scalp crawl.

“I’ll take you down with me!”

Doctor Yang suddenly opened his mouth and lunged at Xue Feng, apparently intending to bite him to death.

Xue Feng kicked him squarely in the head.

A row of front teeth flew out instantly.

The kick sent Doctor Yang crashing into the pilot’s seat at the front. His entire body slammed down on the control stick, and the helicopter abruptly changed direction, plunging viciously toward the ground.

“Get him off!” the pilot screamed in despair.

The pilot had never imagined that Doctor Yang would lose the fight. Not only had he lost, but he had also collapsed on top of the controls.

The cockpit was already cramped, and with two people wedged inside, the pilot could no longer move.

Xue Feng was momentarily stunned. He had not expected this to happen either.

Then he saw that Doctor Yang’s entire body was practically embedded in the cockpit. There was no way to drag him out.

Xue Feng immediately glanced around. A smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

“Goodbye.”

With that, Xue Feng jumped out.

The sight left the pilot completely dumbfounded.

What?

That man had actually jumped from the helicopter?

The aircraft was still more than a hundred meters above the ground!

But a moment later, the pilot caught sight of Xue Feng from the corner of his eye. He had not fallen to his death. Instead, he had landed on the roof of a nearby building.

When the helicopter passed close to the building, Xue Feng had seized the opportunity.

“Ahhhhh!”

As the helicopter drew closer and closer to the ground, the pilot’s screams grew louder and louder.

At last, when it struck the ground, the helicopter exploded violently.

The aviation fuel inside it detonated with tremendous force.

The pilot was swallowed by the flames.

Xue Feng breathed a sigh of relief when he saw this.

Initially, he had intended to seize the helicopter and make it his own. He had never expected an accident to occur and send the aircraft crashing down.

Fortunately, he had managed to jump onto the roof of this building.

Even if the helicopter had not brushed past the building, Xue Feng would certainly have jumped before the explosion. He simply would have been injured in the process rather than walking away completely unharmed as he had now.

The building where Xue Feng had landed was also an office building. However, when he went downstairs, he discovered that there were no survivors left inside.

Zombies wandered everywhere.

Xue Feng had no interest in searching for survivors. He still had to find An Xiaowei and You Haoyun.

When he reached the ground floor, he found that the two girls were already hurrying toward him.

Their faces were filled with worry, and their eyes were red from crying.

“Didn’t I tell you to wait where you were?” Xue Feng asked with a smile.

“Brother Xue Feng! The helicopter exploded. We were so worried about you!”

You Haoyun and An Xiaowei threw their arms around him at the same time.

The two women were showing their true feelings. They had genuinely been afraid that Xue Feng had died.

It was not merely because his death would mean losing their powerful protector. By now, they regarded Xue Feng as the most important person in their lives.

They had been completely subdued.

“Don’t worry. I’m not going to die,” Xue Feng said, patting them both on the shoulders.

Unfortunately, this tender moment was destined to last only briefly.

The helicopter’s explosion had attracted a large number of zombies.

Xue Feng summoned the Doomsday Tank and returned to the base.

This trip had yielded little, apart from some fertilizer.

However, he had learned one important piece of information.

North Mountain Hospital was definitely not a safe place. It was another terrifying den of evil.

After returning to the base, Xue Feng immediately told Gu Xiaoqian to question the survivors one by one and find out whether anyone knew anything about North Mountain Hospital.

He had overlooked this possibility.

With so many people under his command, they ought to know quite a few things.

News arrived soon enough.

As expected, someone knew about North Mountain Hospital. One of the survivors had once worked there.

Xue Feng summoned the person. She was a woman in her fifties.

She was one of the survivors brought back by Liu Jun and had worked as a kitchen helper at North Mountain Hospital.

When the woman saw Xue Feng, she stammered as she spoke.

Clearly, Xue Feng was an extremely frightening figure in her eyes.

Even so, the woman haltingly described everything she knew about North Mountain Hospital.

Its full name was the North Mountain Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Treatment Center. However, everyone habitually called it North Mountain Psychiatric Hospital, or simply North Mountain Hospital.

The hospital occupied a vast area, twice the size of an ordinary hospital.

It housed a great many psychiatric patients, doctors, and nurses.

The entire facility was enclosed, making it resemble a small prison.

After that, the woman launched into a long series of complaints.

For example, preparing the meals was extremely difficult. Everything had to be made into liquid food.

The psychiatric patients often refused to eat, and many had to be force-fed.

Once, a patient had slipped into the kitchen and used the refrigerator as a toilet.

In the end, she had been the one forced to clean it up.

All of this had left the woman deeply frustrated, and she had eventually quit.

After listening to her, Xue Feng had Gu Xiaoqian give the woman some snacks as a reward.

Most of what she had said was of little practical value, but at least he had learned some basic information.

Xue Feng concluded that the hospital had probably been taken over by psychiatric patients.

He had once watched a movie in which psychiatric patients seized control of a hospital and locked up all the real doctors.

Of course, that had only been a plot from a film.

But if the psychiatric patients truly possessed supernatural abilities, taking over a hospital was not impossible.

At the very least, the Doctor Yang he had encountered was unquestionably insane.

That night, Xue Feng called An Xiaowei and You Haoyun over to keep him company.

The two girls had worked hard that day.

Especially when he had seen them rush toward the exploded helicopter with tears in their eyes—there had been nothing fake about their reaction.

At dawn, Xue Feng awoke.

He had just opened his eyes when a notification sounded.

[Ding.]

[The Intelligence System has been updated.]

[1. The true director of North Mountain Hospital is being held prisoner in the basement. The current director is a psychiatric patient conducting some form of human experimentation.]

[2. The intelligence operative Qin Fengshan, whom the host dispatched, is being held in the basement of North Mountain Hospital.]

[3. A Tier-Three Mutant entered Jianghuai Community last night. It is hiding in Dormitory No. 1, Zone C, and has not yet caused any damage.]

What?

Xue Feng’s eyes widened in shock.
