117 A Voice from Heaven!
Xue Feng lifted one of Wang Xinyu’s legs and pressed it against the medicine cabinet.
Clatter!
The medicine bottles rattled, but fortunately, the glass barrier prevented them from falling.
Xue Feng paid no mind to this and continued thrusting his waist repeatedly.
“Mm… ah!” Wang Xinyu’s eyes glazed over as she breathed softly into Xue Feng’s ear.
After a long while, Xue Feng finally released.
Wang Xinyu slumped to the floor, feeling as if she had been pinned against the wall by a bull.
She needed to rest properly before she could get up, her hair falling messily over her eyes.
If anyone unfamiliar saw her now, they might think she had endured something terrifying.
Xue Feng, still without pulling up his pants, did not leave immediately.
Instead, he waited until Wang Xinyu had rested enough before helping her to her feet.
“There are more people in the base now. You probably need some help here,” Xue Feng said.
“It’s a bit busy,” Wang Xinyu replied, her heart warmed by the sweetness of the moment.
It wasn’t just physical satisfaction from before.
She hadn’t expected Xue Feng to care about whether she was truly exhausted.
“I’ll have Gu Xiaoqian check the new recruits to see if any of them have medical knowledge. If so, I’ll assign them to assist you,” Xue Feng said.
“Thank you so much, Brother Xue!” Wang Xinyu expressed her deep gratitude.
Back in his office, Xue Feng asked An Xiaowei to summon Qin Fengshan.
When Qin Fengshan arrived, he was nervous and showed even more respect than before.
After witnessing the superior living conditions in Xue Feng’s base, he yearned more than ever to become part of it.
“I don’t like wasting words or playing on emotions. Help me with one task, and once it’s done, you can join the base,” Xue Feng said, leaning back in his chair with a grave tone.
“Please tell me, sir!” Qin Fengshan was excited inside.
More than anything, the meal he had had at noon alone was enough to make him willing to serve faithfully.
Better to die well-fed than to starve.
“I’ll give you a vehicle, a rifle with ammo, and a few grenades. You’re to go to this place,” Xue Feng said, placing a sheet of paper on the table.
The paper was the flyer that had fallen from the sky when Xue Feng had eliminated his first third-tier mutant.
It stated that on a mountain outside the northern part of the city stood a survivor stronghold.
Established by several powerful psychics.
Any survivors who came could receive free medical care and food.
If survivors with psychic abilities joined, they could enjoy even higher privileges.
Xue Feng had always been wary of the flyer’s contents.
He deliberately avoided searching the northern region to avoid a direct confrontation with that faction.
He had a feeling that this group had already gathered many people.
Likely far stronger than the canned food factory’s forces.
After witnessing the leader’s strange psychic powers, Xue Feng remained cautious of all other psychics.
Who knew what strange abilities they might possess?
Qin Fengshan took the paper and frowned.
“This is the place!”
“What’s wrong? Do you know this place?” Xue Feng asked.
“No, but we’ve seen many survivors heading north. It’s rare to see anyone from the north come searching for supplies,” Qin Fengshan said.
There were only two possible explanations.
First, the area might have ample food, so even with many survivors there, they didn’t need to return to the city for food.
But that seemed strange.
Even if food wasn’t needed, they would still require medical supplies.
After all, in an apocalypse, producing medicine was impossible.
The other possibility was that there were few, if any, living people there, so supplies weren’t needed.
“But I’m willing to go gather intelligence!” Qin Fengshan nodded resolutely.
He knew well that if he didn’t go, it meant he had no value.
Those without value were discarded.
He wanted to survive and become part of this place.
“Good! Go find out the intelligence on that place. Act as an insider if necessary. If you accomplish this, I’ll reward you,” Xue Feng nodded.
Qin Fengshan’s cooperation pleased him greatly.
A few hours later, Qin Fengshan drove toward the northern outskirts of the city.
Until Qin Fengshan brought back news, Xue Feng had no plans to explore the north.
At least, without information from the intelligence system, he would not venture there.
Of course, Xue Feng wouldn’t wait forever—he decided to wait a maximum of five days.
If after five days Qin Fengshan had no news, it meant the lead was lost.
Either Qin Fengshan was dead, had defected, or was unable to leave that area.
Right now, Xue Feng’s most important task was to secure some fertilizer.
Fertilizer was indeed hard to find in the urban area.
But Xue Feng soon found a place with plenty of fertilizer.
The Flower, Bird, Fish, and Insect Market!
Many flower and plant sellers stocked fertilizer.
Though the quantity wasn’t huge, Xue Feng managed to find about forty bags, weighing around two tons.
That would be enough for their annual consumption of fruits and vegetables.
This time, Xue Feng brought along You Haoyun and An Xiaowei.
He hoped to bring some good luck upon himself.
Both women wore tight pants and sports jackets today, making it easier to gather supplies.
The dirty and tiring work of searching was done by them.
Xue Feng only needed to supervise.
This made Xue Feng realize their group resembled a lion pride in the animal kingdom.
The male lion rarely hunted; the lionesses did the hunting.
The male lion’s role was to fend off intrusions by other predators.
“I didn’t expect so many pets here starved to death. Those little birds are such a waste—they’d definitely make a delicious soup,” You Haoyun said with a sigh after coming out.
Many pet birds were locked in cages.
They hadn’t been eaten by zombies but starved instead.
“There are also turtles. Maybe we can raise them slowly and eventually have meat,” An Xiaowei smiled.
“Forget it! If we raise them, I might be sent away before they’re grown,” You Haoyun said disdainfully.
She used to love keeping pets.
But after the apocalypse, her perspective had completely changed.
Pets?
They were a waste of time and energy—meaningless.
Screech!
At that moment, everyone heard a sharp whooshing sound in the air.
It came from above!
They all looked toward the same direction.
Then they saw a helicopter appear in the sky, flying less than a hundred meters above the ground.
“Attention survivors! Attention survivors! A survivor gathering point has been established at North Mountain Hospital! Dozens of powerful psychics are stationed there. Everyone, seek refuge at North Mountain Hospital! Everyone, seek refuge at North Mountain Hospital!”
A broadcast voice came from the helicopter.
