Chapter Twelve: A Letter from the Nobility, Allen’s Origins

This... perhaps my physique resembles that of a former school bully, which triggered Rudy’s PTSD. In that case, this favor task will be difficult to advance... If only Rudy were a girl... No, wait, the inner girl in a thirty-four-year-old NEET uncle of adult games... ugh, explosive.
Allen sighed quietly and moved to the study doorway.
The study door was open, and inside, Paul was hunched over, tugging at his hair as if deep in thought.
Allen knocked gently on the door with the side of his hand.
“Master.”
Paul looked up; several sheets of letter paper were scattered across the desk.
“Oh, sit down.”
Allen glanced at the chair—it was quite far from the desk where Paul rested his chin. Paul then picked up a pen and looked at Allen.
“Since your background is unclear... before you become our family’s swordsman, I need to conduct a brief investigation.”
Allen raised an eyebrow and stared intently at Paul’s face.
Seeing this, Paul quickly waved his hand, then scratched his head, looking up at the ceiling with a troubled expression.
“Don’t worry, I understand adventurer protocols—I used to be in this line of work myself... It’s just a very rough investigation since it concerns my child’s safety. I hope you understand.”
Allen’s expression suddenly changed, as if a spark of interest had ignited. With a faint smile, he relaxed back in his chair.
“Please, go ahead.”
“Uh... your name?”
“Allen.”
Paul’s hand holding the pen paused briefly, then he slowly nodded and continued.
“May I ask your age?”
Allen looked at the pen in Paul’s hand and smiled indifferently.
“Nine years and four months.”
Paul blinked.
“Your usual area of activity...”
“Around the Asra Royal Capital.”
Paul seemed to feel his throat dry and swallowed.
“Swordsman rank?”
“The title I’ve been granted — currently only Water God Style, advanced level.”
Paul scratched his head with the pen, then smiled after a moment.
“Your clothes look quite tattered... I suppose you haven’t had income for a long time. When did you last lose money in the dungeon?”
Allen replied cheerfully.
“Last November, Master.”
Upon hearing this, Paul exhaled deeply, looking relieved. He looked up at Allen, his expression softening, and his words carried an unexpected warmth.
“Alright... Allen, you can stay here for now... We’ll have a meal together later. Senith’s cooking is quite good.”
Allen squinted at him.
“Any other questions, Master?”

Paul hesitated, then shook his head.
“No... no more. You can go rest in your room or go play with Rudy. Speaking of which, although you’re tall, you’re only four years older than him...”
Allen stood up.
“Shall I go now?”
“Yes, go ahead.”
After saying this, Paul’s gaze became somewhat dazed. Seeing Allen’s back, he reached out to steady the door, then lowered his head and took out a blank sheet of letter paper.
With a click, the door closed.
Paul immediately began to write.
But before he could finish the first character, a lazy voice drifted from in front of him.
“Uncle Paul... who are you writing toI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
