Even the Land of Divine Prohibition Plays by Human Rules and Social Etiquette
"Quiet."
Su Mubai lightly stomped his foot and opened the map of East Sea City, preparing to locate the nearest jewelry processing workshop.
There was still a bunch of gems in his backpack waiting to be socketed.
In the game of World Myriad, Gold-tier and Dark Gold-tier equipment could have one gem socketed, Epic-tier two, Legendary-tier three, and Mythic-tier four!
The two Bosses, Undead Skeletal Dragon Kakus and The Forgotten Franklin, had provided Su Mubai with a total of 40 Level 5 gems.
Among them, those providing Spirit attributes accounted for nearly half, amounting to a full 18 gems!
However, Su Mubai did not rush to exploit and upgrade these gems; instead, he decided to visit a jewelry processing workshop first to check out the situation.
Things, however, did not go as planned. The moment Frost took flight, they encountered an obstacle.
In the distance, a squad of griffins was flying over at high speed, carrying riders on their backs. Judging by their standardized equipment, Su Mubai instantly understood the situation.
He had run into the guards of East Sea City!
Yet, he hadn't committed any offense.
"Could it be that Situ Ji sensed the teleportation fluctuations and deliberately sent them to escort me?"
Su Mubai muttered to himself and motioned for Frost to stop.
Right after that, however, Su Mubai was dumbfounded.
The leading captain made a hand gesture signaling him to stop and shouted sternly:
"Are you not aware that private flying is prohibited in East Sea City?"
"There is such a rule?"
Su Mubai frowned, but he obediently commanded Frost to land on the ground.
With no other choice, who could blame him when the guy's level was displayed as three question marks?
Not only the leading captain, but even the levels of the five subordinates behind him were invisible to Su Mubai.
In World Myriad, whether one could inspect a target's panel information depended entirely on relative strength.
If the strengths were comparable, even a twenty-level gap would still allow one to inspect the opponent's panel.
Conversely, the greater the gap in strength, the less information could be probed.
Su Mubai could only see the names of these guards, which showed that East Sea City, being one of the top ten primary cities, possessed considerable strength.
The captain landed right after Su Mubai, flipped off his griffin, and hurried over to him.
What he failed to notice, however, was that the moment his own griffin landed, it immediately lowered its head and its body trembled uncontrollably.
The griffins lingering in midair that hadn't landed also grew somewhat restless. The bewildered city guard soldiers tightened the reins in their hands to soothe the mounts.
Although these griffins were high-leveled and possessed formidable overall strength, they were still suppressed when facing Frost.
Such was the terror of Dragon King-class dragon might!
Nevertheless, the actual gap in strength between the two sides was indeed vast, allowing the griffins to quickly adapt.
Though a lingering fear remained in their hearts, their bodies stopped trembling.
"A Frost Dragon?"
Casting a surprised glance at the frost creature beside Su Mubai, a flash of shock crossed the captain's eyes.
Mindful of his duties, however, he still handed Su Mubai a fine ticket.
"You're Bai Ye, right? Considering you are an adventurer and unaware of East Sea City's rules, the fine for this time is only 100 gold coins. Should you commit the offense again, the penalty won't be as simple as a fine."
Perhaps intimidated by the presence of Frost, the captain added a deliberate reminder before finishing:
"If you wish to fly within East Sea City, you must first obtain a flight license."
A flight license was evidently not something just anyone could acquire, but an adventurer capable of owning a Frost Dragon naturally possessed the qualification.
Even so, a Frost Dragon entering East Sea City still had to abide by local rules!
One hundred gold coins?
Why don't you just go rob someone?!
Su Mubai rolled his eyes, took the fine ticket, and asked, "May I ask where Lord City Lord Situ Ji is right now?"
How could a newly arrived adventurer possibly know the City Lord's name?
A flicker of shock crossed the captain's eyes, and he finally noticed that the adventurer before him had already reached Level 20!
If he remembered correctly, the adventurers had only descended yesterday, right?
The leveling speed of this adventurer in front of him was simply unfathomable!
Moreover, he even possessed a Frost Dragon.
With such credentials, no wonder this person could be connected to the City Lord.
The captain pondered many things in an instant, then nonchalantly pulled back the fine ticket while a smile instantly bloomed on his face:
"Little brother, you should have mentioned earlier that you know the City Lord! Isn't this just a case of family members failing to recognize their own kin?"
"May I ask what business you have with the City Lord?"
"The City Lord gave me a trial. Now that it's completed, it's only natural to turn in the quest."
Su Mubai smiled faintly.
It seemed that even in the God-Forbidden Land, worldly sophistication and human relations remained indispensable.
The captain's expression shifted, and he gave Su Mubai a deep look.
"I will take you to the City Lord's Mansion right now."
As his words fell, the captain summoned his griffin with a wave of his hand and leaped onto its back.
"Little brother, keep up."
"Can we fly now?"
"Look at you saying that! Isn't this handling a special case with special measures? We certainly can't keep Lord City Lord waiting."
With that said, the captain prepared to take off, only to find that the griffin beneath him was acting rather strangely.
"You beast, do you only have this much courage? You're scared like this just by a fledgling little dragon!"
He smiled awkwardly at Su Mubai: "Little brother, please excuse this unseemly display."
Seeing this, Su Mubai promptly signaled Frost to withdraw its dragon might, and the griffin finally shot up into the sky.
Frost followed closely behind, and the two quickly arrived at the East Sea City Lord's Mansion.
Plans could never keep up with sudden changes; the jewelry processing workshop he originally intended to visit would simply have to be postponed.
However, this place was originally one of Su Mubai's intended destinations anyway.
"Little brother, this is the City Lord's Mansion, let's g—"
Before the captain could finish his sentence, a powerful surge of energy instantly enveloped them both.
Space distorted in midair, and Situ Ji stepped out holding a staff, hovering directly in mid-air.
"Why is it you?"
The moment he saw Su Mubai, a clear look of astonishment flashed across Situ Ji's face.
He had come out to investigate personally because he sensed a Mythic-tier creature approaching, though its aura felt rather weak.
He never expected to see Su Mubai here again.
Shortly after, however, his gaze fell upon Frost.
"A Dragon King-class Frost Dragon!"
"A Dragon King?!"
The eyes of the captain beside them widened into perfect circles, momentarily forgetting that he hadn't yet greeted the City Lord.
Situ Ji finally noticed the captain he had been ignoring and waved his hand dismissively. "Alright, you may return to your duties."
Hearing this, the latter immediately steered his griffin away.
He knew very well that what followed next was not something a mere captain like him was qualified to know.
"Little fellow, your strength has far exceeded my expectations."
Situ Ji scrutinized Su Mubai closely.
From his perspective, the youth should still be lingering in the Land of Forgetting at this moment.
Such astonishing speed should not be achievable before a class advancement.
"City Lord, I—"
Before Su Mubai could finish, Situ Ji waved a hand to interrupt him. "Follow me. This is hardly the place for conversation."
With those words, he flicked his staff, opened a portal, and stepped right through it.
"Remember to have that little fellow shrink down; this old man's reception hall cannot withstand his tossing about."
