Mo Nian-nian anonymously handed the evidence over to the police, and soon after, they began investigating the events of the past. The case had once shaken the whole of the capital. The Jiang family had been a prominent name; no one could have imagined them capable of such deeds.

For nearly a month, the news was saturated with studies and reports about this major incident. Now that a completely different outcome had surfaced, the authorities took it very seriously and immediately launched a new investigation. If the facts were confirmed, Wang Qiang would be arrested at once.

Mo Nian-nian kept a close eye on the proceedings, paying little attention to Jiang Hu’s movements over the past couple of days. She only hoped things would be resolved quickly—if the child’s hatred festered too long, it would be disastrous if it finally boiled over.

Jiang Hu remained as well-behaved as ever. On the eve of Wang Qiang’s arrest, he found an excuse to go out and said he might be back late. Mo Nian-nian gave him a casual word or two of advice, not thinking much of it.

Jiang Hu smiled as he bade her farewell. “Don’t worry, sister. I’ll come back as soon as I’m done tonight.”

Mo Nian-nian’s expression was a touch teasing. “No need to hurry, just enjoy yourself.”

The child was growing up—she understood that much.

Jiang Hu cast her a gaze full of longing and obsession before turning away and walking out. He changed into a different set of clothes and took the tools he had long prepared.

First, he made a point of appearing at the city library to ensure the surveillance cameras captured him. Then, finding a blind spot, he slipped out of the library. Avoiding every camera on his route, he made his way to Wang Qiang’s house.

He had scouted the place several times and was certain he could enter both swiftly and safely. Taking advantage of the security guard’s shift change, he slipped inside and followed the blind spots all the way into Wang Qiang’s villa.

It was the home Wang Qiang shared with his lover, and only the two of them lived there. Jiang Hu had done his homework—tonight, the lover was away, leaving Wang Qiang alone.

Jiang Hu cut the power, took out his prepared props, and moved with footsteps as silent as a cat’s.

He found a place to hide, waiting quietly for his prey.

A security guard noticed the power outage during his patrol
