Chapter 139: Together Forever
Page 1/3
Mo Nian Nian had been confined by Jiang Hu for three days, and during this time, their communication was pitifully scarce. She wanted to talk to Jiang Hu, but he remained cold and indifferent. The most worrying thing was Jiang Hu’s escalating volatility. Mo Nian Nian feared that one day, he might lose control and harm Mo Ran. The thought filled her with urgency.
Jiang Hu guarded her strictly, never allowing her to leave. Unable to stay by his side and monitor him closely, Mo Nian Nian was deeply concerned for the safety of others. Having such a dangerous man nearby made her anxious.
Jiang Hu entered silently to deliver her meal, looking presentable but utterly unapproachable. At the slightest disagreement, he resorted to confinement—truly infuriating.
Just as Jiang Hu put down the food and was about to leave, Mo Nian Nian couldn’t hold back. She quickly stopped him. “Jiang Hu, I’ve explained everything before. I never intended to leave you.”
Jiang Hu didn’t react, his gaze cold and unreadable. Standing tall and elegant, he glanced at her briefly.
“I swear, I never wanted to leave you. Everything was an accident. I only wanted to send Mo Ran away.”
“See? I didn’t delay at all—I came back immediately.”
Not knowing how else to appease him, Mo Nian Nian tried once more to explain.
“Because of him, Nian Nian acted against me and abandoned me,” Jiang Hu stated expressionlessly.
If he hadn’t rushed over, would Nian Nian really have come back? To return to a mad and twisted man like him? Jiang Hu couldn’t guarantee it, a sneer curling his lips.
Mo Nian Nian felt exhausted and weak. “I truly never wanted to hurt you.”
Wasn’t she forced into it by circumstances?
Jiang Hu didn’t want to argue endlessly over this. What’s done is done—there are no ‘what ifs’ in this world.
Seeing him about to leave, Mo Nian Nian grabbed his hand. “Jiang Hu, wait! What would it take for you to believe me?”
He stopped, his voice grave. “Only if you prove it to me.”
“Prove? How?” Mo Nian Nian was baffled.
Jiang Hu’s face betrayed no hope of her actually proving anything.
Mo Nian Nian held on tightly, her mind racing. Jiang Hu was deeply insecure, always feeling abandoned by everyone. He had finally opened up before, only for her to shatter that trust. To fix this, she had to give him enough security.
But how does one give security?
Mo Nian Nian pondered too long, and Jiang Hu, losing patience, prepared to leave her alone.
“Jiang Hu, I know you don’t believe me. How about this: tie me up with a rope, wherever you go, I go. We’ll never be apart. How about that?”
“Never be apart?”
Those words were too sweet, and Jiang Hu momentarily faltered.
Mo Nian Nian couldn’t think of a better solution. She looked around, found a rope, and handed it to Jiang Hu. Then she held out her hands, waiting.
Would this make him feel more secure?

“Come on, I won’t resist.”
Her gaze fell on Jiang Hu’s wrists, scarred and battered—her own doing. Such precious hands reduced to this state.
She had urged Jiang Hu many times to treat the wounds, but he showed no sign of doing so.
This difficult man didn’t care about his own body at all.
Jiang Hu remained still for a long time. Mo Nian Nian looked more anxious than him, almost ready to tie herself up.
Lowering his head, his eyes tightly guarded, he asked, “This time, it’s your own choice?”
“Of course,” she said stoutly, “You know your hypnosis doesn’t work on me. If I wanted to run away, I had countless chances before. How could I still stay by your side?”
Jiang Hu’s eyes rippled with turbulent emotions, though his expression stayed calm. “Everything you say is true this time?”
“Absolutely. Everything I said is true.”
“Forever together?”
Mo Nian Nian hesitated briefly, then nodded.
In that instant, the gloom in Jiang Hu’s eyes dissipated, revealing tiny stars.
“If you really don’t trust me, tie me up. Wherever you go, I go.”
As long as she could watch him constantly and prevent him from going on a murderous spree, Mo Nian Nian was grateful.
Jiang Hu refused the rope. Just as Mo Nian Nian thought he had finally been reasonable, he produced something else.
“The rope chafes. Use this.”
He held a finely crafted bracelet, less than a meter in length.
It seemed he had been prepared all along, though he had pretended otherwise before.
What could Mo Nian Nian do but agree, letting Jiang Hu fasten the bracelet on her wrist?
The other end was locked on his own wrist.
Jiang Hu caressed the chain, his golden-rimmed glasses reflecting a sickly obsession. “Nian Nian...”
Now Nian Nian truly couldn’t escape.

Both Mo Nian Nian and the system breathed a sigh of relief.
She wasn’t opposed to it; after all, she had to stay with Jiang Hu, and without completing the mission, she couldn’t leave anyway.
She fiddled with the bracelet and glanced again at Jiang Hu’s scarred hands, frowning slightly as she muttered, “What a ruthless man.”
Sighing, she said, “Let’s go. I’ll dress your wounds.”
He really didn’t know how to take care of himself.
Jiang Hu lifted his hand to look at it. “It stopped hurting long ago.”
Mo Nian Nian frowned. “It looks awful and is an eyesore. Let me wrap it with gauze.”
Jiang Hu seemed in a decent mood, smiling faintly and obediently following her.
At last, Mo Nian Nian was able to leave that room. She didn’t know what trick Jiang Hu had used, but the door opened automatically, without the usual worries about the power on the wall.
She had tried countless times alone before, unable even to approach the main door.
Mo Nian Nian silently criticized Jiang Hu again in her heart.
Stepping into the familiar laboratory, she felt an unexpected warmth.
She found the medical kit and sat Jiang Hu down.
The kit was purchased, as Jiang Hu had nothing here. His fragile constitution meant she expected to use it sooner or later.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Jiang Hu got hurt again.
Mo Nian Nian skillfully dressed his wounds, then patted her hands. “There, all done.”
Jiang Hu’s hands were wrapped like dumplings. He looked at the bandages, lips tightly pressed.
His recent experiments had reached a critical stage, and with his hands like this, he couldn’t continue.
But since Nian Nian had bandaged them herself, he couldn’t bear to remove the dressings.
“You see what you’ve done to such fine hands.”
Rumor had it that Jiang Hu was once hailed as a medical prodigy, an expert in both surgery and psychology, a rare talent in the entire medical field.
How important were his hands? And yet he treated them like this?
Mo Nian Nian was heartbroken and couldn’t help nagging a little.
Jiang Hu listened quietly, offering no rebuttal.
With his hands injured and the place far from the city, without even a food delivery service, Jiang Hu planned to cook dinner himself.
Even the most brutal Mo Nian Nian couldn’t stand it. Frowning, she gently pushed him aside. “Forget it, I’ll do it.”
Jiang Hu stiffened, recalling the last terrifying experience, and stiffly said, “Nian Nian, I’ll do it.”
Mo Nian Nian refused to accept defeat. “No, I’m doing it!”
She wasn’t about to trust him.
This time Jiang Hu stood by to guide her. How could she mess up?
After two seconds of hesitation, Jiang Hu relented.
As it turned out, cooking was truly a matter of talent, and Mo Nian Nian’s talent was almost zero.
The kitchen was a mess, and the food she made was... hard to describe.
But at least it was edible, unlike last time’s disaster.
Jiang Hu tasted it with Mo Nian Nian’s chopsticks, his eyes softening. “Very good.”
“Haha, see? Cooking is simple,” Mo Nian Nian boasted, feeling proud.
Jiang Hu praised again, “Melts in the mouth, perfectly seasoned.”
Mo Nian Nian was even more elated, pounding her chest in assurance. “Don’t worry, as long as you want to eat, I’ll cook for you.”
Jiang Hu smiled without any reluctance. “Good.”
He leaned closer to Mo Nian Nian. “Feed me.”
Taking advantage of his injured hands, he grew bolder.
Mo Nian Nian rolled her eyes but gave in. What was the point in arguing with an injured dog of a male lead?
She generously fed Jiang Hu.
He enjoyed it, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Nian Nian truly was staying by his side forever. He subtly tugged the chain, watching with satisfaction as the bracelet on Mo Nian Nian’s wrist swayed in response.
