Xiong You?
Zhao Nan furrowed his brow slightly. At this moment, he was inside the city lord’s office, and only he and Ranfeng were present.
“Let him in.”
Although puzzled, Zhao Nan didn’t dwell on it and directed Ranfeng on the next steps: “Have the servants bring some tea and snacks.”
“Yes, my lord!”
Ranfeng smiled gracefully. Although he belonged to the Beast Clan, the fox tribe within it was known for its many handsome and beautiful members. After Ranfeng excused himself, he left, his black tailcoat trailing behind. Soon after, Xiong You, led by a servant, arrived before Zhao Nan.
“Sit.”
Zhao Nan beckoned with a hand and smiled, “If you have something to discuss, you can just use telepathy to contact me, or send an email if it’s inconvenient. Why come in person and send a messenger?”
Xiong You scratched his head, smiling awkwardly, “Brother Nan, your status is different now. I thought you’d be busy, so I had to use this method. Sorry for the trouble.”
Zhao Nan chuckled lightly. “You and Xiao Nan are the only ones in Listening Wind City who truly know the identities of me and Philina. You’re no strangers to me. Just come directly if you ever need anything. How is Xiao Nan?”
“She’s fine. We rested for a day and just completed the job advancement. Now we’re planning to take on some missions,” Xiong You replied.
“Oh?” Zhao Nan frowned, “You’re supposed to be resting now, yet you’re still going on missions?”
“No time to relax...” Xiong You sighed. “Who knows when the next monster siege will happen? We’ve already rested one day. We can’t afford to slack off now.”
Zhao Nan nodded, appreciating Xiong You’s sense of urgency. Despite his youth, Xiong You had never abandoned his girlfriend during the toughest times and always stayed by her side. Now that Listening Wind City had only just recovered for a day, he was already determined to keep improving. That was rare.
Xiong You scratched his head sheepishly, “Don’t make fun of me, Brother Nan. I’m still far behind you.”
Zhao Nan shook his head, “Everyone has their own opportunities. Life is long; you will grow stronger in time. So, what brings you here this time?”
As Xiong You hesitated, the servant brought tea and snacks. Xiong You took the cup, turning it in his hand for a moment. After a deep breath, he looked at Zhao Nan and said, “To be honest, I came to ask for your help with something.”

“Go ahead.”
“It’s like this. Before the monster siege, I was assigned a mission by chance,” Xiong You recalled. “The mission required level 17, but I was only level 16 then. When the siege started, the mission was interrupted.”
Zhao Nan pondered, “A level 17 mission shouldn’t be difficult for you. Why do you need help?”
Xiong You hurriedly explained, “If it were an ordinary task, I wouldn’t bother you. The problem is, it’s a strange mission—it requires entering a dungeon.”
A dungeon? Could it be...
Zhao Nan’s mind stirred. “What kind of dungeon?”
“An illusion dungeon,” Xiong You said uncertainly. “I’m not sure what it really is. I know of regular dungeons and one-time special dungeons, but I’ve never heard of an illusion dungeon before.”
Zhao Nan nodded, “Illusion dungeons are rarer than special ones. It’s no wonder you haven’t heard of them.”
“You know about illusion dungeons?” Xiong You brightened.
“I’ve experienced one before,” Zhao Nan admitted freely. Since Xiong You had a mission involving it, he was entitled to know.
“That’s great! Looks like I came to the right person! To be frank, I want to invite you to enter the dungeon with me.”
“No limit on the number of participants?”
“Characters must be level 17 or above; only four players allowed,” Xiong You said awkwardly. “Dungeons are usually terrifying places. When I first got this mission, I hesitated to enter. A regular level 10 dungeon is already so frightening, and this illusion dungeon is even stranger—I don’t know what dangers await.”
“Why the change of heart now?”
“One reason is obviously to become stronger. To be honest, Xiao Nan still has a relative alive somewhere. She wants to find them, so she must survive. That’s why we want to try this dungeon. But the main reason is you! I watched the entire battle at the square. You and Miss Philina are so powerful; clearing a level 10 regular dungeon alone must be easy for you. With you joining, we’ll surely complete this illusion dungeon!”
Zhao Nan rubbed his nose. Truth be told, his enthusiasm for illusion dungeons far exceeded that for regular ones.
Regular dungeons were always available; whenever you had time, you could grind them. But getting good gear wasn’t guaranteed and required numerous runs. Illusion dungeons were different—the special thing about them was that the benefits gained inside could be carried out afterward.
For example, the Fountain of Youth—once outside, it granted unimaginable benefits. Moreover, the dungeon’s level requirement of 17 meant characters of that level had the capability to finish it. The four-player limit suggested the difficulty wasn’t high.
Before the plaza attack, Zhao Nan had already reached level 25, and after Listening Wind City’s restoration, he received another level-up reward. He estimated the safety margin for entering this illusion dungeon was quite high.

“When do you plan to go?”
Zhao Nan was straightforward.
“Preferably within the next two days...” Xiong You hesitated. “Because the entry deadline is almost up. Of course, it depends on your schedule. You’re the city lord now, busy with official duties—I don’t want to trouble you.”
“Then let’s set off tonight. I still need to arrange a few things.”
“Wonderful! I’ll notify Xiao Nan to prepare immediately!”
...
After Xiong You left, Zhao Nan summoned the fox butler and instructed him to continue all ongoing recruitments. However, the plan to tackle the level 20 regular dungeon was postponed until after his return.
Butler Ranfeng naturally obeyed his master’s will, diligently carrying out his tasks.
At nightfall, Zhao Nan and Philina arrived punctually at the agreed meeting place with Xiong You. The four formed a party. Upon learning Zhao Nan and Philina’s true levels, the young couple exclaimed in disbelief, their tension easing somewhat.
“Alright, before we enter, tell us everything you know about this dungeon.”
Xiong You nodded. “The reward is...”
“No need to mention the reward. Just tell us what the dungeon entails,” Zhao Nan interrupted.
Being granted entry was already the best reward. Zhao Nan valued not the promised loot, but the benefits one could gain inside the dungeon.
“Very well...” Xiong You hesitated, his expression strange. “The dungeon’s name is odd... it’s called ‘Grudge: The Blonde Must Die.’ The content is to enter the dungeon and defeat a person named Louis L. Brigitte.” (To be continued...)
