Chapter 102: Where Did the Title Master Go?

One day later, after completing an intense training session and finishing all the necessary drills, Lin Yu and Fu Yun led a group of physically and mentally exhausted individuals back to the safe zone of the kindergarten.
Thanks to Zhao Nan’s generous supply of resources and his help with re-enchanting everyone’s equipment, the enthusiasm throughout these two weeks of training remained high. The results were almost unimaginable. The goal of everyone reaching level 20 had finally been achieved.
“Brother Yu, in a few days, the Wind Listening City will be restored,” Xiong You said as he walked beside Lin Yu. Despite his fatigue, the anticipation in his eyes was unmistakable.
Lin Yu patted Xiong You’s shoulder and sighed, “Let’s hope everything goes smoothly.”
“What do you plan to do after the Wind Listening City recovers?” Xiong You suddenly asked.
“It’s a bit too early to talk about that now,” Lin Yu replied with a smile. “But thinking about it, having hopeful expectations makes one work even harder.”
“Someone’s ahead!” Xiong You frowned abruptly.
Lin Yu’s expression changed as he gazed forward. At the entrance, someone was indeed peering in. It was none other than Huang Kun. Lin Yu was puzzled. He quickened his pace and, recognizing the man, greeted, “Huang Kun? What are you doing here?”
Since they had had conflicts before, Lin Yu naturally didn’t act overly familiar.
“Lin Yu…” Huang Kun’s face brightened instantly. “Has Zhao Nan come back? I’ve brought all the men I could gather!”
Lin Yu’s confusion deepened. Wasn’t this guy previously against the war? How had he suddenly changed his mind? Curious, Lin Yu cautiously asked, “Huang Kun, you’re planning to join the battle at the square, aren’t you?”
Huang Kun’s expression remained unchanged as he nodded. He thought perhaps Zhao Nan hadn’t revealed the truth about the heart-eating parasites. Since Zhao Nan hadn’t mentioned it, he certainly wouldn’t make it public.
After returning to his own territory that day, Huang Kun had tried every method he could think of but failed to locate the parasites. Even the priests and sages assured him there was no serious problem.
This had truly terrified him. If more than two days passed, wouldn’t he just die mysteriously? Helpless, he stayed up all night recruiting people, coaxing and persuading them. Finally, he gathered quite a few men and rushed over without hesitation.
“Of course! I’m part of Wind Listening City too!” Huang Kun declared loudly. “I’ve made up my mind. Rather than continue like this, I’d rather make a desperate counterattack. If we succeed, life will improve; if we fail, at worst, we’ll still be heroes eighteen years from now!”
His impassioned expression was genuinely moving to anyone unaware of the past.
“Hahaha!” Lin Yu laughed heartily after a moment’s pause. “Brother Huang, your noble spirit shames me! There was a misunderstanding before, but today we wipe the slate clean. From now on, we’re brothers! Come on, let’s go inside and have a big feast before we talk more!”
“That sounds great!” Huang Kun smiled reluctantly and added, “By the way, where’s Zhao Nan? He’s the originator of the plan, and I want to ask him about some specifics.”
“Brother Nan said he’ll be back a bit later,” Xiong You spoke up. “He just sent an email… He also said if Huang Kun came, we should make sure to treat his men well.”
“I see…” Lin Yu nodded thoughtfully, then looked at Huang Kun with noticeably less enthusiasm.
In his heart, he suspected there was more to Huang Kun’s inconsistent behavior.
“Don’t overthink it. Eat when it’s time to eat, sleep when it’s time to sleep,” Fu Yun suddenly said, patting Lin Yu’s shoulder. “Just do what needs to be done.”
Lin Yu shrugged, and the group marched together into the kindergarten. Ahead, the playground was already filled with several hundred people. Comparing Huang Kun’s men to their own, the difference in numbers was striking.
“Let’s talk inside,” Lin Yu said, gesturing toward Huang Kun.

At that moment, someone shouted from behind, “Brother Lin, Boss Fu Yun! More people are coming, quite a large group!”
The two exchanged a glance, both sensing the other’s puzzlement, and hurried to the entrance. From different directions, two more groups of men were rushing over.
“They’re from other safe zones,” Fu Yun frowned. “This is strange… Could they have also suddenly changed their minds?”
“Probably,” Lin Yu shook his head and sighed. “Most likely Zhao Nan’s doing, but I don’t know what methods he’s using.”
“Whatever the method, gathering more manpower is always better. I checked out the monsters at the square briefly. Just trying to hold off those mutated elite beasts alone, I don’t know how many casualties we’d suffer,” Fu Yun stroked his full beard, his face filled with hope. “Now with more people, the death rate should decrease!”
Before long, the two groups arrived. As expected by the two leaders, after some humble apologies, they swore on their honor to join the battle to save Wind Listening City, even speaking with such fervor that foam appeared at their mouths.
“Everyone, take a rest for now. I’ll have people prepare some food,” Lin Yu said apologetically to the leaders of the three groups.
“It’s okay, Lin Yu, you focus on your work. We’re not in a hurry,” Huang Kun quickly said.
The other two leaders echoed the same sentiments. Lin Yu clicked his tongue in amazement but could only quietly wonder about it as he went to make preparations.
After Lin Yu left, Huang Kun glanced at the other two men standing nearby. After the fall of Wind Listening City, the leaders of the various safe zones had some interaction and knew each other.
Now, the three exchanged looks, hesitant to speak. Huang Kun suddenly sighed and said bitterly, “You two haven’t found a solution either, have you?”
“The heart-eating parasites…” one man murmured with a sigh.
“Of course,” the other gave a bitter smile.
“You haven’t found a way to get rid of them either?” Huang Kun frowned.
“We’ve tried every method we could think of, but nothing worked. I still feel the parasites are inside me.”
“Same here. Whenever I close my eyes, I feel like there’s a disgusting worm crawling over my heart. Don’t laugh at me… Just thinking about that pain makes me break out in a cold sweat.”
Huang Kun shrugged helplessly. “The three of us are in the same boat. Laughing at you is just laughing at ourselves… Sigh, now our lives are in other people’s hands, so all we can do is keep our tails tucked.”
“That’s all we can do for now.”
The two men sighed, their faces full of helplessness.
Meanwhile, Lin Yu was preparing food for everyone. Huang Kun and the others, new arrivals, stayed quiet and waited.
Soon, Zhao Nan appeared at the entrance. The three leaders said nothing and hurried over to him.
“Oh, everyone’s here,” Zhao Nan said with a half-smile, half-smirk.
Inside, he was probably cursing madly but forced himself to smile.

“I brought the men you asked for,” Huang Kun was the first to speak.
“Good,” Zhao Nan laughed heartily.
“Well then…”
“Don’t worry. The parasites can sense my presence across the entire Wind Listening City,” Zhao Nan said softly. “As long as I’m alive, the worms won’t go out of control.”
The three men furrowed their brows. That clearly meant, “If something happens to me, we’re all doomed.”
Though they knew this, they were powerless.
These three were no fools; otherwise, they wouldn’t be leaders of safe zones, each with their own territory. But from now on, being under someone else’s control left them unwilling.
“By the way, that archer who framed you, I’ve caught him too,” Huang Kun suddenly said in a flattering tone.
Zhao Nan glanced at Huang Huaming behind Huang Kun, who shook his head and gritted his teeth, “Hand him over to you!”
“Kill him,” Zhao Nan said quietly.

P.S.: Before writing this chapter, I was quite angry. After finishing it, I realized all the anger had dissipated. I guess I really love writing novels, and that’s what calms me down. Actually, I rarely add P.S. notes, but tonight I felt compelled to share.
The book has been running for over a month now, growing through ups and downs. I want to thank everyone for their support. Some say I have many relatives and friends, which is why the book has risen and received many recommendations. Well, here I say this: all my supporting readers are my relatives and friends.
Because of your support, my anger has faded.
Because of your support, I will persist in finishing “Global,” no matter the outcome. The contract states the completed manuscript will be two million words. Even if it flops, I will finish it.
Because of you.
Thank you all for your support.
The year 2014 is approaching. Before New Year’s, make a wish.
I hope you will continue to support me, and together we will weather the storms in the coming year!
Hmm… Tonight I’ll continue fixing the typos in the earlier chapters.
