Chapter Thirty-Two: The Reason That Cannot Be Spoken
Watching Fei Xin’s retreating figure, Xiu Ming was seized by a sense that, from this point on, he no longer had a part to play—and that at any moment, he might be eliminated.
Fei Xin’s laughter faded quickly. Lifting the leg of the monster’s corpse, its flames now dying, he glanced at Cui Kaixuan. “Would you like to take a look? Isn’t this what you were after?”
With those words, he dragged the monster’s corpse slowly up to the second floor.
Take a look at what? Xiu Ming was baffled, but when he saw Cui Kaixuan beckon to him, he nodded. It hardly mattered what it was—good things never came his way anyway. He might as well take a look.
He walked forward, and Cui Kaixuan leapt down from the room’s upper floor.
Xiu Ming glanced at Cui Kaixuan, who rubbed his forehead. “I know what you’re about to ask. Don’t. Let’s just follow him for now.”
Fei Xin hauled the monster’s body through the main doors on the second floor, then climbed the dais to the well.
“Is this an important step?” Xiu Ming asked from the side.
Fei Xin was about to throw the corpse into the well, but turned and smiled. “How did you know? Cui Kaixuan couldn’t have told you, could he?”
“Why couldn’t he?” Xiu Ming pressed. This Fei Xin clearly knew there were secrets that could not be spoken—so why shouldn’t his own secrets be told?
“I’ll tell you, extracting blood is a crucial step. This well is called the Blood Well, and it’s used to drain the blood.” Fei Xin finished, and tossed the monster’s body into the well.
